What is going to be added to the pro, that the 3d doesn't have? i joined your forum today. Can you pm me a price on the 3d please.

EZ-3D vs PRO.

PRO is built on top of EZ-3D. In addition PRO is going to allow for Assemblies, Dimensioning and cutting (fish mouthing). The PRO product is going to be a higher price, however, all EZ and EZ-3D customers can upgrade to PRO for the difference in the price. So any customers who have bought or are planning to buy in the next couple of months before PRO is available they are out absolutly nothing except for a smaller scrap pile in the corner of their shops.

The limit is set to 100 bent parts and 200 straight parts (parts with no bends) for a total of 300 parts. If we find this is too small of a limit we can up them very easily.

The ability to quickly model something and see instantly what it looks like without having to cut or bend a single tube is a HUGE asset. Then once you know what you want being able to know where to mark, bend and rotate the tube should make complex jobs a breeze.

Bend-Tech EZ-3D, SE & PRO (PRO will be available December 8th) will work with any bender. I would guess that I have about 1000 customers with the Pro-Tools benders. So, YES it will work with the Pro-Tools benders. As a matter of fact, I am going to be down visiting the Pro-Tools factory next Tuesday.

is it possible to draw non-tubing parts with this software? I am wanting to design a new rollcage for my jeep and would like to draw it up and see what it will look like in a jeep tub. i will probably buy the program anyway so can you tell me how much it is also.

PRO is for tube design only. In part this is why the software is so easy to use and allows the user to design so quickly. You are not having to wade through hundreds of other functions that are not tube related.

Can I download?: Yes, if in the US I also send a CD and manual.

I have 2 computers: One software is all you need. As long as it is you using it on multiple computers there is no problem. The problem takes place when the multiple computers are at your friends' house.

Guys this software kicks ass! If you are still bending by hand/eye you really really should try this stuff out. I just built a roll cage for a guy who has bent his own tube before. He was using the old #9 wire bent to about right shape and waisting tube and HOURS, and didn't believe the computer would help that much. He also was sceptical that he could show up Sat morning, and leave Sunday afternoon with a complete EXO roll cage. Guess what, he watched me take a bunch of measurments, disapear into the abiss for about a half hour and come out with a few papers with a bunch of numbers and a drawing on, and bend up his cage. Now I honestly did have one tube that I had to do by hand/eye, and it took over 2 hours because I didn't really know how to measure for it. The rest of the cage was a cake walk thanks souly to Bend Tech! It will be your best friend no matter if you are starting out or a seasoned tube bending pro! There is nothing better than a perfect fit after only one trip through the bender, in stead of 10 trips back and forth to check fit.

Plus Cris is a super nice guy and will hook you up right!.

In about 9hrs I have a pretty decent play buggy laid out. This was my practice project for a 5seat rear engine v8 suspension car project to build this summer.

In regards to using SE
What kind of anaylsis is there built into the software, is there any kind of FEA or other such ways to test/analyse it. Thinking of using it to build a chassis for an engineering senior project but I have to be able to set criteria and be able to test it, also how hard is it to import into programs such as Pro Engineer ect. can it be done as an assembly or do parts have to be imported seperately and then reassembled? Yes the entire assembly can be sent over to Pro-E, Solid Works, etc... It is broght in as a 3D sketch and you can create your solids criteria from that.

I've been running bend-tech on the Mac for about a year. You need to be running a mac-intel version of OSX. Then just install Paralells or VMWare and finally XP (service pack 2 of course). The last step is to buy and install bend-tech. it's really easier than my description might make it appear.

i just want to say how great this product is. i originaly bought EZ-3D and i almost instantly upgraded to PRO . its very easy to use. in about 20 minutes i had a complete tube bed design draw up for my toyota..

ive used CAD in the past at school and this blows it out of the water as far as useability goes. this is so easy to use. pieces come out great..

ordered ez3d last week a little disapointed for 150 dollars I thought it would at least have a tooling and material library already on it. Also the not enough useable templates for a buggy build, read the directions and just could not figure out the custom part template. just thought I would get more for my money.

I sold about 25 ez-3d systems last week, so I don't know who you are. If I did I would be happy to give you a call. If you would like, I could give you a hand. Please feel free to call me at anytime.

If you would like I could put together a material library together for you. It may take a couple of days because there are approx 5000 materials I need to enter. Its going to kinda suck scrolling through that many materials, however, they would all be there. Keep in mind it takes about 30 seconds to enter a material into the library. If you are having difficulty with this, please drop me an email or give me a call.

The tooling library is a little more difficult because of the calibration and the bend location offset. Most people don't realize that the standoffs on the dies are not welded onto the dies with any tolerances from the factory. This inconsistency on their part will make the bend start at a different location in the die. I am very concerned that if we throw together some tooling calibration numbers and bend location offsets, in some cases they will not be correct and the customer would scrap some tube. I would much rather have the customer take about 15 minutes and do a couple of tests with his bender and build a library that works for him.

Most buggies have 3 dimensional parts (parts with rotations) and our predefined templates are 2 dimensional only. So I can understand why we don't have all of the parts pre-defined for you. I wish we did because there is about a 100 different ways to build a buggy and I could sell the software for mega bucks if we had all the designs pre-defined.

One last thing you should be aware of. Most guys who are building cages or chassis find themselves best served with Bend-Tech PRO. It allows you to define the entire cage or chassis on the screen before you ever go out and cut a piece of tube.

Thats right.... You need some help and wish we were there to give you a hand with bend-tech? Now we can. I just signed a contract with Webex. The Webex internet products will allow you to see our computers or us to see your computer through a secured hook up. It takes 2 clicks and about 2 minutes the first time to get it set up. After that it takes 2 clicks and about 30 seconds.

What you see on your screen, I can see on my screen. If you really need the help, I can even take over your mouse and keyboard (with your permission of course).

The contract we signed wasn't cheap, however, I think it will bring us to that next step in servicing our customers.

No problem showing your stuff....I don't bend tube without it anymore. I used a little bit of assembly for the comet cage, but on something like that I find it really easy to drop into the template window and bang out a couple of hoops and bingo works like a charm.

Purpose: To allow engineers who design tubes, pipes and rods in SolidWorks or shops that receive Step and Parasolid models into SolidWorks the ability to send a part over to Bend-Tech and obtain all of its manufacturing information, including cut lengths and elongation values. It will work with 3D sketch lines, sweeps and weldments!!!

Procedure: Select the part you wish to associate to Bend-Tech, select the Bend-Tech pull-down menu in SolidWorks and select the check mark in the new Bend-Tech window. Go over to Bend-Tech, select the SolidWorks pull-down, select your material and tooling. Push one more button to create a XYZ part. Done...It takes about 15 seconds to have a part completely ready with manufacturing information.

We don't talk about our cutting wrappers very much. Time to show an example and how it works:

Following are the steps to setting up the cutting for mulitple tubes.

Step 1) Select the "Cutting" tab
Step 2) Select the "Select Tubes" command button
Step 3) Select the tube you are going to cut. Note: Make sure to select the PickPoint closest to the cutting end. You will find our part turn green in color.

Step 4) Select the dot(s) representing the tube section(s) that our part is going to be cut to. You will find the intersecting tubes will turn red.

Notice the intersection now has a black and a blue cut marks showing the inside and outside of the material where each meets the intersection part(s).

EZ-3D will do a great job giving you cut lengths, bend locations and bend rotations. It works great if you know what you want to finished part to be. Price is $149.00 + s/h

If you want the entire cage put together in the software or you want to use the software to build the parts together to help with the design, you will want PRO.

Let me show you how kick arse these things are.....

Of course we have the shape of the fish-mouth as you see in the following pic. Also notice the 2 "calibration lines" on the wrapper in the lower left corner of the pic.

One is "red"; it is the distance that "red" line needs to be from the end of the tube.

The other line is "blue"; this line needs to be lined up with the out-most or outside radius of the bend. As an example; if your tube diameter is 1 3/4, set your bend flat on a table and then get something that is 7/8 of an inch tall and scratch down the outside of the tube. The scratch needs to line up with the "blue" line.

Now lets show you how the wrappers can line up with themselves. Please find the orange cross member in the following pic.

We are going to cut both ends. Again you will find a "red" line and a "blue" line on each wrapper.

Now the "red" line of the wrapper tells you the distance to the "red" line on the 2nd wrapper. In our case it shows 7 1/8 inches between the 2 red lines.

And the "blue" line on each wrapper need to line up with each other down the tube.
