I have someone givving me a Zuk w/ a blown 1.3 in it. I want to build it for my wife to run, but don't know squat about them. My first reaction is to toss SOA narrow track D44s in it w/ YJ or Waggy springs. How is the tranny and transfer in these things? I'll probably start w/ 33s but end up w/ 35s real quick.
Thanks:D

you will have no problem with the tranny and t-case as long as you get the sumo 6:1 gears for the t-case and rebuild the tranny right off the bat. other than that go for the d-44's yeeeee haaaaaaaa

Your first reaction sounds pretty good, later you can get a 1.6 8v out of an 89+ tracker or sidekick and throw that in for more power, pretty much the only easy bolt in deal as far as engine swaps go...Of course, anything is possible with more time and $$...

what about the VW diesel 4 banger swap? Anyone ever done one of those (talk about torque)? Or another engine swap 4 or 6??????
Where is the best place for online parts (tranny & transfer kits ect)?
Zukes are cool, I've wanted to build one since I saw Glen in the green one at Tough Truck 3-4 yrs ago. :D
Thanks

Oilburner on this board is runnin' a VW diesel. There've been several posts on that. Run a search for "diesel" restricted to the Sammy board.
I would tell you to swap in a Toy 4-banger. Sure, it's not the easiest swap, but a sure-fire way to be able to do dual toy cases down the road... but then again, I'm a bit biased. :D :D :D

Actually Mike,
You are kinda close. The old mule is a 68 CJ5 rock buggy I drive and my wife is getting the Zuk. It has to be a rocking beast too, I want her to go where I go. Besides I think sammies are cool little beasts. :D :D :D
22R, So the yota swap uses the yota trans and transfer???? Or does Advance make an adapter that works easily?
PS Newbie only defines my recently joining POR's BBS.:roxy:
