I saw a TV program in which a 19 year old was killed by a pipe bomb that was mailed to him. It turned out that the kid ripped off a person and the person decided to get back at him, not knowing that he was only 19. I think it was on CourtTV and it was about catching the bomber, which they did, but the sad thing is that people like Charles think that they can rip people off and get away with it. This is true, until it is no longer the case and then it is too late and what was done can not be undone.

Based on the last messages from Charles, it is clear he has no idea of what he got himself into nor how to get out of it. He is in for an interesting ride, to say the least. I wonder if he will ever understand, sadly I doubt it.

Somebody else has mentioned this. But neither have the full story.

Basically some 17 year old kid was using the internet (usenet) to scam CB radio's in 98. He'd scammed afew people and got caught giving out a fake UPS tracking number for a trade.

The kid got alittle wise, and the next time shipped a non working radio shack CB so he'd have a valid tracking number. The kid was supposed to be shipping a Cobra worth about $400. The guy he was trading with was trading him another radio worth about $800 bucks. Well...the kid scammed the guy. The guy made alot of threats online.

So now we have a theif trying to use the internet to scam people.

The guy ended up building a bomb, testing it in his back yard. Upon it working properly, he mailed a similar bomb to the kid. This bomb took 3 UPS flights and a truck ride to get to the kid's house. It went off when the kid opened the package, mortally wounding him and seriously injuring his mother.

So now we have a theif that pissed off somebody and paid for it with his life. Sound fair yet?

But the story gets better. After the guy was arrested, his wife (who was hurting for money) asked the owner of a local CB shop to come take a look at her husbands equipment because she was going to sell it. Turns out the equipment is worth about 5 grand total. But the shop owner realizes that most of it was stolen from his shop eariler in the year when it was robbed. The long and the short of it was that the guy was fencing a hot radio for a cheaper non hot radio that he could turn a profit on.

So now we have a theif that screwed a bigger theif and died for it.

Moral of the story: While it's not smart to screw people online when they can find out so much info about you in no time. And at the same time, be careful what you say and do if you are screwed or if you are trying to help somebody that was screwed. Two wrongs don't make a right. There's a guy sitting in federal prision for many felonies over a $400 CB. He basically traded evrything that he had, house, car, familiy, freedom for what? Now that is pwn-age.

Now that I've said my peace. I'm going to go click on some banner ads.

While many people claim this is about the $25 that Charles tried to extort from the buyer, it is not. It is not even about the $115 that the buyer paid. Charles tries to claim that it is between him and the buyer, but it is not. It is not really about Charles lies about the part being new when in fact it is used, as he has been forced to admit. What is it about? It is about a person who is so arrogant and stupid that he does not know that it is insane to try to rip off a person in a community, he does not know when the jig is up and that he has been caught and have enough sense to shut up. When a person commits a crime, fraud in this case, as well as perhaps attempted extortion, that person harms everyone. The trust between all buyers and sellers are reduced and it makes sales more difficult.

Charles was asked to send a postal money order, but instead sends one from 7-11, which according to their web page can take 30 days or so to really clear, so this will not be ending anytime soon. If Charles had any sense at all he would have sent funds which are far more certain, like cash, a cashier's check, postal money order, etc. He should still do that to ensure that aspect ends asap, but I doubt that he will have enough sense to do that.

If Mike still has the money order it would be a good idea to copy it and call and check to make sure that it has not been reported lost or stolen and also to let them know what is going on, just in case Charles decides to continue to be stupid.

Charles Wenzel dug himself a hole and this was not just an ordinary hole because on top is an outhouse for all the world to come and visit. He sits at the bottom of this pit yelling, threatening and insulting people, trying to demand that they go away. Then he thinks that he can issue a fake apology with threats and then edit it and hope that will also go away all the while he continues to say stupid things, making threats and harassing people. Charles has made himself the poster boy for all of the Internet scams and fraud. I personally think that this has reached critical mass and poor Charley Wenzel is at ground zero. There is no one person which can stop this, but good ol' Charley thinks that he can try to convince people to call all of this off. Even if the entire thread was removed, I am sure that it would pop up somewhere else.

Charlie is so stupid that he keep harassing Mike and his wife, as if they have control of all the people. I hope they report him to the police since his behaviour is unacceptable. The only way the calls are going to stop is to change the phone number, so he needs to get used to it or get a new number!!!

While MochaMike hasa money order, nothing says that it is any good since perhaps Charlie might have said that it was lost or stolen. Personally I would like to know what was in the box that was sent since another person said that he got bricks or something instead of what he paid for.

It really isn't about the money, it is about the attitude that Charlie has and he keeps being stupid. Why is he calling and harassing Mike and his wife? The kid does not want this stopped as he keeps pushing it. He just doesn't get it and until he learns to really apologize and then hide out, this will not stop since it is too good of a drama for people to ignore.

I'm pretty sure that nobody representing this forum wants Charles to hurt himself or come to any serious physical harm. A couple of swift kicks in the ass maybe....Likewise, Charles' parents may have lost control of their son, but that doesn't give anyone the right to screw with them physically. Charles is 19, naive, dumb, and overprotected. This has allowed him to get his butt deep into a situation that he's now unable to reverse. There are a lot of 19 year old kids who have committed worse crimes with far less punishment. Charles is the lightning rod for the wrath of everyone who's ever been ripped off.

He deserved to see the "power of the internet" and understand the fact that nobody is invisible and immune from justice, but the Police are involved now, Mike is handling it through the correct channels, and screwing with Charles or his family will only complicate matters for everyone involved.

Charles, you have screwed yourself and you're going to have to spend some time riding it out until it blows over. I hope that you learn a lesson out of this and understand that life is still worth living, you're just going to have to deal with the fallout for a long time.

Sure, he had it coming because he kept taunting and shooting his mouth off, but to say that he should kill himself only shows me that there are a lot of others out there who need to chill out and let the situation ride. Charles should not kill himself. He can still be a productive member of society and may actually turn his life around and do some good.
