FYI. I just dropped a 383 Stroker into my 1968 Scout 800. I used Jeep V8 mounts from Advanced Adapters. The mounts need to be mounted 25" from the very front of the frame rails with the top of the mounts flush with the top of the frame. I am using a 700r4 with a Novak Adapter mated with a Dana 300. With the mounts in this location I am able to use the factory crossmember which allows the engine to sit 4 degrees back tilt (which is perfect) and the bottom of the TC does not hang under the frame rails. It allows just enough room to remove the distibutor if needed and gives plenty of room for intake. If one was to use a carburated engine there is plenty of room for a carb and air cleaner as well. I hope this make sense to everyone I don't know how to upload pictures or else I would. More later as I get further along.
