I am about to put a 3 inch rough country kit on my xj and i was wondering do i have to have a spring compressor to put it on. thanx

Not likely. Disconnect the shocks and swaybar. If that doesn't do it, disconnect the track bar and unlock the steering. Should work fine. Also if you push up on the other side it will often help the side you are working on droop out.

you dont have to use a spring compressor , but it will make life easier .
when i did mine , i found that the lower arms limited the down travel of the
axle . even with the shocks removed .
that is if you still have the stock arms .

I once thought that spring compressors were needed because I listened to others on the intarweb, but then I figured out a pry bar and/or a fat guy standing on the axle works just fine.
I'm a fat guy, so there's always one available; and most people have a pry bar. If not, stop at the store and get a case a beer and start working on your belly so you don't need spring compressors. :D

you can get a compressor for $10 or so from harbor freight. I used one and it came in real handy..
