I was trying to achieve a 8 inch lift and was wondering if I could do a shackle flip then add 4 inch blocks to get the 8 inches and how safe would it be?Would there be any more safety concerns with the shackle flip, than just using blocks? Also is anybody using the traction lift bar in front that give an extra 2 inch of lift in front?

I gess you could but not a goood Idea. I think you should do the shackle flip ad a 2 inch lift shackle and an add-a-leaf. blocks are not a good idea.

It should be fine, my brother is running a shakle flip and 2" blocks on a '70 K5.

I am running a shackle flip on my 77 short bed with 2" blocks and have not had any problems, I think with 4" blocks you might get some pretty nasty axle wrap..

I have never liked the lift blocks. 2inch my be fine (some stock trucks come with them) but any thing bigger will give you problems.

probably ride like crap too, that big a block. i got a '78 K10 with 1 ton suspension on the rear and those leafs make the ride a real kidney knocker. sellin them and buying a 6 inch lift, just dont know what company to go with.

rear 6" BDS springs with the overloads taken out and a 2" shackle flip.

My '97 2500 Dodge has a factory 4 3/4" block in the rear. The '93s had a true 6" block stock (not like the aftermarket " 6" " blocks that measure 5 1/2"). He asked if it was safe, not whether you liked it or not. I don't like blocks either, my Dodge has nasty axle wrap. But it will work.

Thanks for the advice,do most just modify there existing rear spring hangers and use their stock shackles or do they buy the aftermarket kits?

I have also been told that you can use the front rear spring hangers from another frame to acheive this.Is this correct or just bad info?

The best and safest way to get 8 inches of lift with a shackle flip would be to add 4 inch springs..
