i am helping a friend pick a lift. which is better of the skyjacker or procomp 4" TJ lifts? he can get the skyjacker installed for free, but it costs more, so it is about a wash. also, why would he need an "adjustable track bar" with the procomp kit. any help is a appreciated.

anything vs. procomp. verdict? procomp looses.

I'm not sure about jeeps, but I run a Skyjacker 5" system on my '85 Toyota and it flexes great for being an out of the box kit. My neighbor runs a 4" Procomp on his '87 SAS 4Runnerand I have him whipped no problem.:D

I agree...and he should put it on himself. Easy to do with just hand tools and a half a day.

Uh, go with the Skyjacker unless this guy doesn't like his kidneys. ProCrap are very stiff and ride like crud. TJ installs are easy, buy the Skyjacker and install it on the weekend, it's very simple. The adjustable trac bar is needed to re-center the front axles after the lift because the stock bars are shorter and the axle will sift to the driver's side when you go higher. It'll also help you flex better with the right trac bar.

Newbies go here (http://www.jeepsunlimited.com)
Get the Rubicon Express kit, better than both of those POS kits.

I suppose you know the spring rates for these lifts? PC TJ springs are about 140/160, the SJs I am not sure of, but I guarantee they are not softer. PC leaves are pretty stiff, though. That said, the arms are crap - no built in flex. I am running mostly Tera on my TJ and it does well. RE and Currie are great, and SJ double flex are really good, too. I think the SJ arms are beefier than any other popular make right now.
