What am I missing here? :confused: It should be a no-brainer which ones to go with, but does anyone have any reson to run a GRSII instead of the Sumo gears?? When I bought my GRSII a year ago I talked to them about more. They told me that experiments had been made with greater than 5:1 but they suggested that would be unreliable. The 6:1 may have to prove it's self before anyone else jumps on the band wagon. It's not magic to regear the case, but at some point the input gear gets too small and the loads exceed the limits of the case... I would not expect the price to change much. Basically the same machine work exists to do the 5:1 or 6:1. Until someone comes up with a cheaper processes (or very large quantities), don't hold your breath for any great price breaks. It's probably a good sign that the 6:1 case is not much higher than the 5:1. It suggests that the 6:1 guys being reasonable! I've machined on gears before, and I've seen what has to be done. Having looked a the images floating around on the web of the Sumos, if I needed that kind of gearing I wouldn't hesitate to buy them. These gears don't look like they will break because of design, it's all going to be in the materials and treatment. The teeth are bigger than stock and it's not like you are trying to get 6:1 from only 4 gears, you are getting it from six gears. I know we have plenty sold and out running around...... We did not get as many this time as we had ordered, but will have 30 sets or more within 30 or 40 days...... RockZuk has his gears and by now is Dune running them down in Rocky Point...... we did not get all of the gears we ordered this time (I said that) we did ship the ones we got out......except for the ones that need to be installed in a complete t-case.... there was a delay from the factory, so the rest will be delayed a short time, but after that.....each batch will get here on time, and there will be more of them...... Randy Bouchard Chad Bellis Brian Ray Patrick Runion Craig Miller with a broken part to Rob's lathe, he was only able to get those done, until the back ordered part comes in...... he said he should have it in 2 to 3 weeks, and have the rest of the 20 sets done and sent.....then should have another bunch/batch done by the end of May..... No (sales, price increase) hype, just plain truth......not anything I can do about it......unless you want to come and pull my 6.1's out and use them for Moab......until he gets the gears to us......
