We are heading to Harlan Ky the weekend of Nov 4-6 for some good trail riding. Saturday the 5th we will be assisting the Kentucky Mountain Crawlers in clearing and cutting of a new trail.

Word is there are some nasty new trails there and this one may be the nastiest yet.

I will let Shoope1 chime in with some additional info regarding this.

Its about time you posted up... :D

Anyhow, this new trail has a bunch of logs in it. Chainsaws the most assential.(sp) A winch would work too. This trail has a really good start to a slick rock on it and will grow grow grow..

And here is the slick rock... And theirs alot of bolder rocks in the trail above this.

Here is one of the steepness of it..

Tentatively I am planning on coming down the 4th and 5th, The 4th we will be riding ATV's since my new rig is nowhere even close to ready and we will be bringing down a couple of chainsaws to lend a hand with clearing some trails on the 5th w/ the KYMC who I just paid my first business member dues to last week (and still have not heard anything back from them  ). Again if anyone needs parts we can bring it w/ us I know this helped save a bundle on shipping last go around. :D Shawn

The campground is open. Its off of HWY 119(about 9 miles our of Harlan). The are working on a small rustic cabin and a shower house as we speak.

The only thing that is in bad need is the road into the park is steep and has several switchbacks. I don't recommend using this road when it is wet, atleast not until we get to do some serious road work. We will get it done just not sure when.
The new entrance dumps into the park at the "Middle Fork Playground".
The trail numbers is 45 and 46.

Whats her name Jody?

Depending on how many we bring we may camp out, although a hot shower would be nice at the end of the day. I will most likely bring my black PSD on 35's and a small enclosed trailer withour badges on it, can't miss it. Its a 14' moving bill board:D

I'l have to look in the morning, I think all I have left in DOM is some small stuff .875 od 3/16 wall and some larger like 2-2.5" 3/8" or 1/2" WA I'm due to buy some more here next month but have been putting it off since steel is going up as of late due to the service centers running record lows on inventory last month. I have some 1.5" in EWHR but I think it is only like 1/8" or 3/16" WA

damnation is right above lower rock garden. you have to go up the big hill that is off the road to the right coming up to lower rock garden. when you get up the hill take a left and run the ridge until you see another steep downhill to left. this is damnation. if you stay on it to the end it will come out on the road right after lower rock garden.

that weather sound awsome. ronnie are you wheeling friday?

I hope I can get off of work... not sure untll mid week.

To add to Brents post, Go up trail 11 and take the next left.(17)
then take the very next left. the down hill he is talking about is totally optional for the week hearted.

Looks like we will have a great group here. so we need to split up.
I think the new trail will be our main objective but lets open up a couple of lines in the Middle Rock Garden.(trail 23)

How did the trail opening go? I worked on the rig till about 8 on friday night, I'm pretty sure it injector problems. I can prime it and it will start, sometimes it quits as soon as the gas I used to prime it is gone and sometime it will run for 15 minutes before it dies. I'm gonna have my injection unit looked at this week.

Post up some pics of the trails.

the trail; opening turned out really well. 10 or 11 of us opened up the new trail in about 3 hours. Its NASTY! Huge thanks to everybody who showed up to help, it was awesome to see so many people work together to get it opened up! And of course huge thanks to shoope and the Ky krawlers for getting this place going(and the chili). Its going to be THE spot on the east coast in another year or 2. It was great to meet people and put faces with names. Hope everyone had a good day wheelin today and made it home safe. I Guess we need to tear into mine and see what the hell went wrong! Pics to come....dave

What did the name end up for that trail?
Just for Ref.. we are Ky. Mtn Crawlers.. :shaking: :D

What about the crazy nut climbing Cream Puff dark 30.
Then a buddy of his followed him up and climbed it as well.

Their also was another trail opened up off of the Damnation Trail.
Another super tough hill climb.

Yeah the new trail is Naaasssstttyy! And it got nastier as the day went on. I cant wait to see it after a few good rains, and some more people taking it on. And a big thanks goes out to all of the KY Mnt Krawlers for having us and working there ass off to make this park a success. And the chili was worth the drive down. And we had some pretty good B-day cake also, didnt we Dave?..........Butch

Hey guys, Just wanted to chime in on this. BTW, SHOOPE IS A PIMP!!!! Now that being said..... I had a blast this past weekend. Saw a bunch of people I haven't seen in a while, met some new faces as well. Chilli was GREAT (thanks Jim) Beer was cold and the Whiskey was smooth (thanks Steve). New trails are TOUGH. Didn't even make it a quarter the way up either one. Trails are great here in Harlan ( I am biased though, I live here) but the response we are getting from all around the East (and West) is great. Come to Harlan and ride I guarantee you wont be dissapointed.

I had a great time last weekend with the Ky crew. I can speak for Steve Crawford and say that the park has so much potential to be the premier park in the eastern U.S.

The new trail that my crowd cut is amazing. Picture the ledges like Schoolbus at Tellico, th erocks of Lower 2, the steepness of Upper 2, all with water, mud and moss covered rocks.

Ronnie, thanks for all you do to allow us a new place to wheel. We will be back and soon...
