[QUOTE=DARTHrover]ok blokes! whats the differance between S1 disco rear diff centers and S2(2001) rear diff centers??

early S1 discos were 10 spline, later ones 24 spline, these 24 spline ones are interchangable with the S2 ones, the S2 ones are a little better as they have a bigger diameter cross pin,

the S2 should have 4 pinion?? i think?

No, the 4 pin was never fitted to the S2, or the S1 for that matter

ok Dave,
so could you throw a 24spline S1 disco detroit center into a 2001 s2
disco??

i ask because i was told that you cant swap jack mcnamara/maxi drive or
arb lockers from S1 to S2.

are the pinion and crown gears the same between the S1 and S2?

sorry to be painfull.

ARB's you can definatly, not done the others but cannot see why not,

MD lockers need a splined axle shaft (halfshaft for a locking dog). I thought the S1 and S2 axle shafts were different, hence a possible reason why the lockers may not be directly interchangeable.

i have early 10 spline RR, my 93 10spline disco ones and
a pair of 99 disco 24splines. the lengths are identical, just the RR one
dosent have the seal surface for keeping the diff oil out of the hub.
