For my 84 XJ, looking into replacing puny GM V6 with a Dodge 318. Sure E1 else uses Chevy SB, Ford SB, common engines. :nuke: :smokin:

Any foresight into this swap.
Has anyone done this:question:

Currently running Camaro 3.1L, OEM TF904 slushbox, Selec-trac NP 229 T-case. Does acceptably well on the trails, but sucks high wind on Mtn. passes, towing trailers, towing 49 Flattie. (oh yeah, still running D30, D35 axles, but D44's are on the menu for install.) :rasta: :usa:

if you already have a 904 in place, then your better than 1/2 way their. you should be able to use a dodge 999(heavy duty 904) from pass. car, then use the exsisting tailshaft and housing that you are using now. as for motor mounts and wiring you would probably have to fab the mounts and the wiring shouldn't be to ruff. also depends on what 318 your going to use. carbed? mpi magnum? hope that helps.

Went to the wrecking yard today, checked out some dodge p/ups, and some FS cars. Very promising venture, even slushbox's look comparatively similar in size. (driveshaft mods still in plan) Going carbed for now, 'till I can get bolt-on EFI, UNLESS I get a screamin deal on a magnum 5.2L That'll RAWK! Thought someone would have suggestions on short cuts, but I had done a 350/350 swap into a 49 Willys p/up, it RAWKED awesome.
Wasn't sure if the Mopar slushboxs shared the same outputs to bolt up to the NP229 Tcase.
Thanx for the info on the 999 tranny, will be checkin' this out. :usa:
