I have a ZJ and plan on running a RE 3.5 kit with a few pucks for 4-4.25" of lift. I have stock bumpers front and rear. Can I fit 33x12.50 BFGs w/ 4.5"BS. The guys on JU say 32" is the limit and 5.5" is needed for 33's. Has anyone run this combo by trimming or should I stick with 32x11.50 BFG's??

I had a 94 grand with RE 4.5" lift plus I added 2" spacers and 32X11.50 BFG muds was about as big a tire that would fit. I had a fairly offset rim and it still rubbed under full articulation. It would ramp 1100 on a 20 degree RTI ramp. I have seen some fender triming and 33's under them in the past but I'm sure they rub. Your call, hope this helped.

Yeah, 32' seem to be common with the ZJ guys I ride with. However, one of my friends is going to 35's soon, so that should be interesting. I believe he is close to 7" lift.

I am at 5.5" with 33's and they still rub up front. I need to trim the ARB bumper a little. My wheels have 4" of bs. Just break out the sawsall!

I have the 3.5 RE lift and I put 32's under my ZJ. I am adding a 1.75 inch puck and going up to 34's. But as you can tell from comparring my post to others is I am not at all afaid of the saw. There is lots of metal that can be trimmed of the ZJ and it really needs to be to make a good wheeler out of it.

Thanks for the info.
I guess I have to decide if I really need 33's or if the 32's will do. If I go with 33's I am probably better off with the RE 4.5" and small spacers. Right?

Yes, I believe that if you go with 33's you'd be better off with the 4.5" RE (w/ all adj. arms) and possibly a spacer. If you really want to run 33's on a ZJ you're going to have to go at it with the sawzall. Depending on how much cutting you want to do you can use more or less lift (i.e. if you want to cut a good bit you can run 33's with only 4.5" of lift). Also consider that the higher you go the the more your control arm angles increase and that leads to a whole bunch of other problems (wander, bump steer, accelerated tread wear, harsh ride, etc.) and you need to be prepared to deal with those problems if you want to go higher. In my book, if you go over 4.5" long arm is the way to go.

Agreed 4.5"+ is really the beginning of long-arm territory.
I am thinking some full size 32's may be better. Can I run 32" SSR's with the RE 3.5 and spacers.

running a 4" rock krawler kit on mine. 32x11.50 TSL/SX's. love my set up. only rub at full lock, and i mean full. but in defense i do have bumper cut and my fenders trimmed up real nice. (took about 3" out of my front fenders). i could probably run 34 in the front:) but id stick with 32" with your lift if you're gonna wheel it.

5.5" lift for only 33's

Here in Iceland we usually don't lift for 33's, just cut the fenders, and maybe a 2" lift. For 35's the fenders are cut and lifted 2", for 38's they're usually lifted 4-6" and the rear axle moved back about 3.5" to clear the rear door. :smokin:

You should be able to fit that no problem... If you take a saw-zal to your fenders, you should be able to fit 35"s

This is in no way even close to Hardcore tech. Unless you want to know how you can fit 37" Boggers with 3" of lift and need help with ideas on how to strech the axles out to clear them then you should pick a different section. I still can't believe that noone has flamed the shit out of you yet. Keep the lift you have. Bust out the sawzall and buy some 33s. Good luck:flipoff2::flipoff2:

5.5 Inches, maybe 6, clearing 39.5's nicely, sawzall and bfh used extensively. I was going for the lowest cog I could get. It is really balanced.

I have no grounds for flaming you but, COME ON!! Somebody do the job! Sawzall and BFH and make em fit, your already thinking about trimming so just do it, make it fit if you want to.
