Busted plastic PS pump Reservoir.

This is the second time I have busted the return line off the back.

My steering is stock 02 TJ. I'd like to run hydro assist in the future, but right now I just want power steering and a clean engine bay.

I've had it with this cheep plastic pile-O-Cheet reservoir.

I'd like to pull the res and Pipe tap the port on the pump and just thread a hose on and plumb in a remote res. Anybody done something like this? Anybody happen to know the port ID?

Ideas? Flames?

That return nipple is well known for doing that. :(

You have a good idea.....tapping the reservoir port on the pump is basically how the remote reservoir pumps are setup. Have you tried getting the question answered from someone like PSC? They might know what is needed to give you a hookup to a -10 fitting.

I can't figure any other way of doing it. I'm concerned that there may not be enough meat to get good solid threads in the pump.

I'm gonna pull it off tonight and take the res off. last time it snapped, I was able to pipe tap what was left of the nub. there is nothing but a giant hole in the back of the res now. This situation could lead a pacifist to a life of violent crime.

Once I have it apart I will measure stuff and make a game plan. I like the idea of talking to PSC enough that I will call them regardless of my own findings.
