geocities doesnt do a good job when I post pics in here from my site so please take a look at my site and tell me wether this dana 44 is worth keeping? its got a weird type of knuckle. supposedly out of a ford but it has a six lug pattern. did ford ever make an axle with a six lug?
my site is at http://www.geocities.com/toyotatacoma2001/index.html

It looks like it came out of a Ford to me but don't know what year or which rig.

yep its out of a f150 79 ish range or a bronco. it will be high pinnion and worth keeping if you want it. it also uses the kingpin style on the knuckle.. stronger than ball joints.
The tubes seem alot thicker on my dads 79 150 than on my 80 waggy... the axle looks really beefy....
just take off the unwanted stuff and put on some leafs!!!

those are 297x's correct? anyone know the spline count before I pull the axles and check for myself?
BTW yes it was supposed to have come out of a 76-77 ford f150(or f100).

I hate to argue but the 3 79 fords I worked on had ball joints not kingpins. I will guess it is a EB axle that uses chevy brakes to get rid of the factory drums, hence the 6 lug pattern.

this sounds logical to me. that pretty much explains the 6 lug pattern and disc brakes. Thanks guys!
Where ar you guys seening the 6 lug's?
I'd need to see more pics of the axle However...
If it's a Ford it's a Late 60's to 71 OR a 71-72 axle, all these axle came with stock drum brakes. I believe it's the piror by the king pins. It will be a high pinion axle.
I'll post pics of a 1970 one after I get the film back.
