: 460 header question
TBOwi 10-12-2005, 12:42 AM I did a search & didnt find anything..
What are all of you fullsize Bronco guys using for headers with the 460 swap???..Will headers for a 400 work??..
Im building this Brimco with no money or Id go with the WAY over priced L&Ls...
BnRGEAR 10-12-2005, 02:04 AM try looking over here these guys have talked about 460 headers but i cant remember the details
http://www.broncotech.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=6
BUZZISCRAZY2 10-12-2005, 04:24 AM Nope..........400 is 351m and cleveland size 460 only shares 429.
Buy them once, go L&L :grinpimp:
460/429 car headers may work. the 429/460 was available in t-birds, torinos, etc. during the early-mid 70's. they will likely hug the block more than truck headers, but you can solve this problem with a mini starter. i would look into those before you hand over the cash for L&L's. they are very nice headers, though.
F0rdFre@k 10-12-2005, 09:19 AM when I swapped a 460 in my 78 F150, I went over to a local Performance shop and picked up some Headdman Headders that fit perfectly. I can't say they were the best quality headder I've ever had but, they did go in flawlessly.
Fordtrucks 10-12-2005, 02:21 PM What year bronko ...I have an 81 f150 and i run a 460 and used a set of headman headders i bought for 150.00 brand new and have lots of room even with a stock starter.JEGS has these for 135.99 for an 80through96 f sieries truck and they should fit the 70ds bronko also (not much difference in frame)However i dunno about the older little bronco though I dont beleave u would put a 460 in one of thouse anaway...My headmans dont leak either with flowmasters....
TBOwi 10-12-2005, 03:18 PM Its a 79 Bronco..Heres the truck...Yes its the ex TTC Bronco from 98

Buzz are you sure??...I ran the 400 manifolds on my 76-150 with the 460...
Also Im not going to spend that much cash for L&Ls & I dont have the cash for them...I may just clearance the frame to get the manifolds to work on the pass side...Dont know yet...Im getting itchy to get it done...This is the only thing holding me up to get it running..
Dan Dibble 10-12-2005, 03:52 PM It looks like you know Randy Thomas, he should be able to hook you up.
Dan

Fordtrucks 10-15-2005, 09:09 AM Like i said run the headmans for 150.00 thats cheap and they work..

TBOwi 10-16-2005, 04:20 PM Lmao....Cost me more in gas to go get it than what I paid for the Bronco...LOL..I should have maybe $800 to $900 into it when Im done...LOL...I just have alot of extra parts laying around to use..Like the 460,C-6,205,D-60s front & rear, fuel cell racing buckets....Thats about all it needed...
BUZZISCRAZY2 10-16-2005, 06:02 PM If ya need any more goodies, lemme know..............:grinpimp:
mpcrewcab 10-16-2005, 06:30 PM funny you should mention that Gold bronco of Randy's. A friend, Ron bought the remainder of that bronco with no motor for $500.00 at Jefferson Car show at this springs car show. He is now running the 79 bronco running gear, with a cab and shortened, doors and front clip from that old bronco and bobbed box on it, 460, beadlocks.
I have a set of 80-86 460 L and L's that Im not using if those would work for your application. Maybe randy can cross reference them and see if they would work.
in pieces of making a new ride

How much for the L&Ls???...Like I said Im way broke ....
BUZZISCRAZY2 10-17-2005, 05:06 AM Well if it isn't MR.Show-no go from FORDtruck world :barf: :barf: :barf:
Nope, the 80's L&L WILL NOT fit........:(
Dave88LX 10-17-2005, 05:49 AM Does the EFI & Carb 460 heads have the same exhaust bolt pattern? L&L headers fit on the EFI heads?
mpcrewcab 10-17-2005, 05:35 PM Buzz lets not start this again I built a truck for show and I have several more for play so why not let this die but if you feel the need to keep it up so be it. So let bygones be bygones. Also I will so if I can come up with some cheap headers. Mike

TBOwi 10-18-2005, 12:42 AM No fighting in my thread bitches....Take it private or leave...
TBOwi 10-22-2005, 03:47 AM Like i said run the headmans for 150.00 thats cheap and they work..
Still waiting...ANYONE have a parts# for me????
Fordtrucks 10-22-2005, 08:18 AM Well i looked through the headder part in the JEGS catelogg and found ford F series 460 headdmanns and there was a part number next to it..
hssss 10-23-2005, 01:16 AM I bought Mad Dog headers for my crawler. 460 fenderwell, 2" primarys, 3.5" collector, thick flanges. With my motor in stock location they cleared everything, including 4 shock but i'm not using BB body. At 12" setback fit real good. I have 35s with no lift and might have had tire clearance problems at full stuff and turn. One nice feature is that they were $325 delivered. Another guy on Bronco board installed with body and was pleased with them. If you cotact him tell him Jim (hssss) Hankins refered.

JoshTurner 10-26-2005, 12:52 AM Well i looked through the headder part in the JEGS catelogg and found ford F series 460 headdmanns and there was a part number next to it..
So your saying that the F-150 headers will work on a Bronco?...Im in the same boat as TBO right now
LeviGarrett76 10-26-2005, 02:17 AM yes, same front clip, most everything is the same
please dont waste your damn money on cheap ass headers, youl regret it....it will sound like a pulpwood truck every few months until they rust through and it will sound like shit all the time
JoshTurner 10-26-2005, 04:20 AM I think Ill go cheap now till I get back working & then spend the money on good ones..
Fordtrucks 11-02-2005, 03:40 PM I love mine no leaks no rust holes....150.00 bucks,JEGS/Headdmans
NetBSD 11-05-2005, 02:01 AM i just got a set of dynomax headers for my 400 only $190, they looks sturdy. i love to show off under the hood now. my buddies has a set for his 460 and love it.
