I need some help. I have my TF727 bolted to my 258. I can't get the bolt holes to line up on my flexplate to torque converter. I marked the converter and flexplate before I installed them so I could line them up later. Is it possible to rotate the TC independentley of the crankshaft? Do I have to get this lined up before I bolt the 727 to the 258? There appears to be 2-3"s of rotational play between the two. Is that so you can bolt them once you have it in the ballpark before you mate the tranny to the engine? I know nothing about auto-trannys so bear with me.

Thanks,
Tom

yes, you can rotate the TC independent of the crank. You just need to push back on the tc a little bit (towards the tranny). It's a PIA, so hopefully you are not too far off of your marks. Just make sure you have the flexplate in a postion where you can see your mark and start the first bolt. I used a small cat's paw to gently push the tc back a little bit, then you can rotate the tc around pretty freely to find your mark. Also, if you feel like you are fighting the tranny, shift it around a bit and keep it in N, will keep the resistance down.

Thanks D30.

I loosened the tranny to engine bolts and I was able to rotate the TC. I was sure that they moved independently, but they were hanging together for some reason.
