Most likely you clogged the sock filter in the tank or burned up the pump. If you replace it use a factory pump. Almost all of the after market pumps suck and won't last long at all. Don't forget to replace the sock and filter too.

The pump will only turn on for a few seconds when you turn the key on to prime the system and then turn off. You will need to jumper the relay if you want to test the pump for flow and pressure.

sounds like you may have an ign module/pickup issue. Do you have inj pulse when cranking? The truck may have spark but no inj pulse is what I'm driving at here. If you supply the fuel it will run, but if the ecm isn't supplying inh pulse, the injectors won't fire even if the pump is running. Test for pwr with KOEO and then have someone crank the eng with the test light connected to B+ and the neg side of the inj harness. If it doesn't pulse I'd look at module and pickup repl. Good luck. It sounds like a fuel issue. When you pulled the filter was fuel getting to it? Through it? Since you ran the tank dry I would believe that the sock is clogged up. If you've never cleaned or replaced your tank you have 16 years of scum/scale inside there. And running it dry caused it to suck mud at the end.
