I need a set of tires for the street to match my gears of 5.13. Has anyone ever used 38" gumbo mudders? How do they wear on the pavement? Were they bias or radial. Is there much of a diffrence on the street. I know the radials cost more $$. A local shop is going out of business and he has some cheap prices on a few brands of tires so i thought I would save my boggers and buy a set of street meats.

I had some a long time ago...
35 X 14 X 16.5 Gumbo monster Mudders...

They wore well on the street,
Didn't howl too bad :D
Good in the mud.

Don't have any idea how they are in real wheeling.
But, you don't care as you have Boggers for that:D

I ran a set of 38.5's many years back on my cruiser and I drove it on the road every day as well as some Rubicon runs and such. They wore very well, and worked well off-road too. I don't think there're much different than a swamper. Mine were bias ply.

Everyone and their dog runs the 38 inch gumbos (radial) around here and while they seem to work well in the snow I am not impressed with their wear quality as they all change out their tires about every season or two. I wouldn't recommend them for a good street tire, but the SSR's seem to wear really well from what I have seen. Gumbos have really wimpy side walls too and are pretty much useless for anything but the snow.
