fishuntr 03-16-2002, 04:10 PM :bounce: After reading posts here for the last couple years, and hearing about negative reactions in places like Moab, and on the "Con", i thought you folks would like to hear what the people in Lucerne Valley are saying about the latest debacle held here....."HOLY SHIT, DID YA SEE THAT" "THOSE GUYS ARE CRAZY!"
No...just kidding..This is just a little bitty town and I have heard NOTHING except positive comments from everyone. I parttime teach up at the local high school, and virtually all the students I saw at the event came up to me to tell me how much they liked it.
The ,local bank had to restock their ATM machine twice. The local restaurants all did a great business; the market, NAPA; the motels; everybody!
The Lions Club members had a ball and enjoyed working the event. Our collective hats are off to Rich.
One last comment....I TOL YA WE HAD BIG-ASS ROCKS!

H8monday 03-16-2002, 05:00 PM Im glad it was perceived so well. And that it had a positive impact on the local economy.
It was a very challenging set of courses, and brought out the best and worst from the drivers and vehicles.
It was cool that so many, of the younger spectators were asking for autographs in their programs.
It was close enough, that my mom was able to drive up from Glendora Ca, on Saturday, and watch some of the event. She was surprised how exciting it was, and asked questions all day long about the scoring and the different types of rigs and suspensions.
I hope we have a chance to compete there again next year.
Mustard Dog 03-16-2002, 05:06 PM It's nice to hear people react to wheeling in a positive way for a change:) Sounds like Rich should'nt have a problem booking that site for future events ;)
SMART ASS 03-16-2002, 08:12 PM Hat's off to u RICH!!!!
Big Rich 03-16-2002, 08:25 PM Blushing.....thanks, and remember, at ClaROCS we do try harder. We may not always get it right, but we're willing to change and try something new:D :D
Rich
Mustard Dog 03-16-2002, 08:37 PM I gotta say, that venue was great :D This was the first CALROCS event we've attended, and we were impressed. What I liked the most was how the spectators could see all three gates running from anywhere on the course :smokin: The Lions Club was a winner;)
SHERPA 03-17-2002, 07:01 AM Rich, so what are some details regarding the event in Reno...???

FLASHLIGHTMAN 03-17-2002, 08:19 AM I had at least 1/2 a dozen first timers ask me questions about the event on site, everyone of them was a parent with a group of childern in tow. They were all very excited and had big grins on there faces, of course kids werer all dirty, but from what i whittnesed, the local folk really showed up to support the event and would do it again too!!
When i asked them how they found out about the event most of them said somthin like, "there was a flyer hanging at the local market, we didn't know what to expect,... but this is fun and we're really glad to be here" Definetly fun for the whole family!
