I just got an 8lug d44 standard rot. front axle and wanted to use the ford 8lug hub and spindle on a chevy d44 spindle and use the chev caliper and caliper bracket. Is this possible? I know I did it on the 1/2ton stuff. I will be investigating it tommorrow but thought if anyone had the answer, I would love the help.

Do you want to use the ford spindle or the chevy spindle?
Let us know what fits what.

wheelinjp,
Why are you keeping the chevy knuckle and spindle? Maybe you already did hi-steer on the chevy stuff? I got a 1/2 ton chevy D44 housing that was gutted from the spindles out. Also had a complete ford 8-lug d44 front end. I took all the ford stuff from the balljoints out (including knuckles, yes) and put it on the chevy housing. The ford knuckles/balljoints will bolt up to the chevy yokes on the housing, in case you weren't aware of that.
It seems like that would save you the trouble of making the ford outers work on chevy spindles. How would you bolt up the caliper brackets? The chevy spindles use the 6-bolt 4something" pattern on the knuckle, but the 8-lug ford stuff uses a bigger oddball pattern that i don't know off hand. Will the ford outers have the rotor in the right place to use the chevy calipers? if not you'll have to figure out how to adapt that too. Why not swap all the ford outers on to the chevy housing?
Let us know what you figure out while you've got it all apart. Thanks.

Ok I have the complete ford 8lug knuckles out, and a set of chevy knuckles and spindles and wanted to know if the bearing hub of the ford would work on the chevy spindles. The advantage is that if I use the chevy knuckles, caliper, and the ford spindle and hub assem. I can use the waggy tierod on the knuckles and only run one hysteer arm, or no hysteer arm and run the draglink into the tierod, like a stock waggy. With ford knuckle out, I have to build hysteer for the tierod and draglink since stock ford tierods come in on the bottom of the knuckle and the steering would hang below the axle tubes.
