: best 4" sua lift?
Nomorejagermeister 03-16-2002, 11:30 PM other than custom alcans/nationals, im looking for off the shelf kit for an 80 cj7. done a search but came upon no real conclusions. whats everyone running sua? what size tire? pics?
and no i wont go soa for a while......
jeep77cj5 03-17-2002, 08:44 AM I have a 3.5 inch standard RE wrangler lift on my cj5, they have been run hard for 2 years now and are still working good, they flex better than most sua's I have seen also, I am running 35's but with some trimming! who needs fenders anyway??
atroader 03-17-2002, 03:07 PM I have a 4" skyjacker sua..... it runs great- not too stiff for the trails but not too soft for the road.
it flex's absolutely awesome on my cj7 w/ 33's and tj flares.
if I were u I would convert my front spring hangers in the front to wrangler width and run a wrangler leaf kit...for the wider front springs.
captain 03-24-2002, 12:23 PM it's too bad you don't want to go with some alcan springs. i would save up and get some of those made. but the rubicon express extreme duty 4.5" is a good kit. but seriously, go with alcan.  ::smokin:
sanyi83 03-24-2002, 01:29 PM I would say the best kit for the money is the RE XD 4.5 inch. I am runnin it and I love it so far. the springs flex great and it was not that hard to install. The kit has the most complets setup that you can get. not too many things that you need to add onto it except for a SYE and CV driveshaft. Call um up and ask um. www.rubiconexpress.com
sanyi83 03-24-2002, 01:48 PM here are a couple driveway shots of the 4.5 RE kit on my 95 YJ

NE-RokToy 03-24-2002, 06:25 PM The best set up for the money I've seen (read: flexes great and cost less then RE Extreme duty) is tuff country front springs and BDS rear springs. i don't know how well BDS front springs work but I bet you could just use them all the way around. The Tuff/BDS setup flexes great, rides great, and is cheap. You need the BDS springs because Tuff country are to soft in the rear and tend to sag. Great bang for the buck seen it on a few jeeps and works awsome.

How come?? just curious
TexasBlake 03-25-2002, 09:49 AM Just dont get the Pro-Comp 4" lift. Here's a pic of mine at full flex... if you could call it flex at all. It's so bad my 4x4 club nicknamed my rig "the flexin' daddy" to make fun of me.
Needless to say, I'm going SOA ASAP!!!!!!!!

Jakesteramalamajama 03-25-2002, 10:00 AM I like my 4.5" RE XD...
This post made me a Granite Guru!!!
;) ;) ;) :flipoff2:
CA_YJ 03-25-2002, 02:31 PM I had the RE 4.5" ED springs and didn't like them. I then sold those and bought the currie springs. Best SUA springs out there, and they are made by alcan. You have to call Currie to find out about the springs, they are not on their web site. They rode great, and flexed awesome.
RoCkSkuLLz 03-25-2002, 03:15 PM why are you going SUA? Unless you buy some good springs your shits going to be saggy and rough riding. Im using RE Xtreme duty's on my SOA, yea well there not so "extreme-duty" if you ask me but they sure do ride nice :D
What ever you do, dont buy pro-crap, rank-ho (rancho), etc. especially not the RE regular duty 4" kit, my friend has one and it rides like a freaking tank!! and ZERO flex.
panama red 03-25-2002, 11:39 PM I'll vote for Trailmaster 4", the springs ride great flex great and no sag after 2 years. Needless to say they will be soa soon. Also disconnect all trac and sway bars and add some "custom" fender work or a small BL to clear on full flex. imo :smokin:
jeep77cj5 03-26-2002, 06:47 AM my friends this and that, I actually run the re sd wrangler kit on my 5 and it rides like a caddy and flexes better than most sua's I have seen, I pulled the bottom leaf out of both f/r and opened the clamps and a dab of grease on the slippers. These have been run hard for 3 years now and still holding up, I can't beat there performance for the 300 bucks for all four, what do alcans run???
RFR2212 03-26-2002, 06:52 AM I can't say what is best, but after a friend picking up the procomp 4in lift, all I can say, is the suspension is gonna be redone this summer cause it sucks so bad...

I second that. My Procomp lift is a whole different animal after I pulled the bottom leafs. I used to think that those bumpstop extensions were just wishful thinking. Im at almost 5 inches of lift and can stuff a 31(real tires are on the way) into the flare.

A little more than twice that. :D
I'm sort of in the middle of ordering a set, 52" long based on Waggy springs but without offset. Price I got was 180 each.
Victor 03-26-2002, 05:06 PM I'm really happy with my BDS 3 1/2" springs and 1/2" shackles on my YJ. The BDS springs flex better and give a nicer ride than the RE 2 1/2" springs that I ran before that. Also very easy one the wallet and lifetime warranty!
A 4 liter V8 eater 03-26-2002, 06:32 PM To my surprise Sam Patton runs superlift on his CJ. Seems to work great.
