It's time to order a winch for the fj-40 project. I'm leaning towards the Warn 9.5 TI. Are Mile Markers as bad as I hear? The price is sure right but if they are junk it's not worth it. A friend who does Heep conversions says MM stands for Maybe a Mile.

I've got the tmax 9500 last december and my selenoids went bad sometime before august. HBRK 4x4 sent me replacements for free. Now I am not keeping the winch connected to the battery all the time. I've only had to use it twice and it worked fine.

Personally, I'd find a used 8274...

Another vote for Warn, reliable pretty much 100% of the time as far as I am concerned... Those cheap winches seem to be... ...cheap....

I'd rather have a used Warn. than a new anything else.......

As far as I'm comcerned, Warn product service is second to none.

I wouldn't try to save money on a cheap winch when you can pick up used ones for cheap. Take them apart, clean 'em up, maybe replace a solenoid, and you're good to go.

Warn supports even some of their *really old* models.

The 12v 8274-50s do have the stronger bosch motors. IIRC, old 8274s had 2.5hp motor while -50s have 4.6hp motors.

RIVERZUK, do/will your 40 have front frame rails with a saginaw box? The 8274 should fit between the frame rails unless you have some custom stuff going on. Better airflow over the rad and a cleaner look, IMO.

if not PTO, then I totally agree with the 8274 crowd. Great winch!!!!!!!
