Im looking at buying a CJ3b and as some know that has a wheelbase of 80" tiny i know. But im wondering what you guys think is the biggest tire I could run on that wheelbase. I've heard a 33" but Im wondering if a 35 would be to much..

How about 38.5's in front & 39.5's in back (oh yeah, and an alcohol & nitrous fed 482 under the hood) :grinpimp:

Just so ya know, I don't actually recommend the above scenario. Even in 2' of slop, it tends to wheelstand when it's really running right

I would say 33's, but it just depends on what you are going to do with it.

Alot of hill climbing......33's.
Crawling curbs at the mall or junior high.....shit, 44's if you like.

I would seriously stay 35's or less, even on a street rig.

this jeep has some pretty serious cancer going on, so Heres the scenario, in fabricating replacement paneling Im thinking about lengthening the jeep. and then stick it on a CJ7 frame. Any input would be appreciated, and any ideas about how big to go on the 94" cj wheelbase would be appreciated.

It's seriously easy to stretch the frame. Cut, add some tube, put some diamonds over the joints. Maybe 4 hours max. Way easier than changing a frame. Even if you have to pay someone to do the welding, it's totally worth a few hundred bucks to not have to change the frame.

Really, tire size is more limited by the axle strength than wheel base in a CJ3B. 33s might even be too much stress on the axles, if you don't baby it. I have a Samurai on 33x13.50 LTBs, and it's fine as far as geometry is concerned. I think the wheel base is just about the same.

Yeah, Im not really concerned about the axles as those will be swapped without a doubt. Well I would totally be up for stretching the frame if I had some more info on it. I can do all the welding, so i guess I dont have any excuses :)
