I'm putting a D44 full width in my CJ7 and it looks like the easiest steering hook up will be heim joints. It's not a DD but I do like to drive it sometimes.

It's done everyday. Just do it right and don't kill yourself or anyone else.

As with all things, it will vary from state to state.

It's legal in Colorado, as far as I can tell, and I read the complete Model Traffic Code. Full hydro steering is legal too. Basically, Colorado is really nonrestrictive though. Take a look at your state's website to find the laws, and maybe even print it, if you have state inspections.

Well they arent legal in Oregon acccording to the shop that sold them to me, but in the year I ran them nobody ever inspected my truck but they were wearing out really fast and they were the best ones I could buy so I took them off and went back to ball joints in my steering, that might be a reason that they arent legal.

IIRC it has to do with being DOT approved vs not DOT approved.
Same BS goes for bead locks. How many fools do you know have gotten bead lock tickets?

DOT makes recommendations. Not having a DOT stamp, does not mean that anything is illegal, it justhas not been inspected and certified by them. Again, just speaking for CO, if anything is not specifically noted as not being allowed in the CRS, then it is fine to run. Heims are not covered, so they are OK.
