What do I have to do remove my manual transmission in my 89 4wd ranger? I pulled the 6 bell housing bolt out but it only come about half way off.Do i have to take the transfer case off?

Is your exhaust in the way? shifter off? electrical? tranny mount out of the way? it should come down and out

is it that hard to spend $20 on a chiltons and read it? :rolleyes: :flipoff2:

Nah....you don't have to be able to read; pile all your tools under the rig, start at the pinion yoke, and remove everything forward of that until the tranny comes out. That's how I do it.:flipoff2:

1. tcase skid plate
2. driveshafts
3. t case
4 tanny crossmember
5. Tranny

you're caught on the pinch weld. you just need to man handle the thing to get it out especially if you didn't drop the exhaust y-pipe.

Yank the fawkin thing backwards until its on your chest.:p
