It seems that soon everything will be 4 stroke, how long do you give it? I kinda like the idea myself. 2 stroke dirt bikes have been a pain in my ass. trying to find the right jettings, fuel mixture and such. well what do you think about 4 strokes?

you just can't beat a big bore 2 stroke though so life will move slower. And the high performance 4 strokes still require exacting the jetting and such so it doesn't exactly make life easier for anyone and wait till you need a top end. I'll ride my 2 stroke till it dies

thats true that the four strokes are more complicated especially when your high performance four starts to backfire and such but anyways i think the 2 stroke will be done with in 2006:beer: so tip one back while you can

Just remember if the 2006 ban of 2 strokes goes on it will only ban the production of off highway recreational two strokes not the continual use of previous years. They cant stop you from racing them on private tracks as well

facts are a 2 stroke can run with less emishions
than a 4 stroke,
skido has a new injection system available
this year,
I belive that eventualy 2 stroke will replace the
4 stroke it is just a mater of time before the
2 stroke is ran buy a computer that
injects the gas in the cylender
and they figure out how to keep the lower end bearings lubed in a sealed system.
Think im nuts ??
Ther is a 2 cycle, moter cycle in italy that is
for sale right now that meets ther clean air
standards. (euro standards are higher than the (usa )
The future is electric power. It is only a couple of years away. hydrogen powered fuel cells... Why pay people that hate us in the middle east so we can keep polluting? Bush even wants this- that's right the Texas Oil Man himself. In the mean time- Yes 4 strokes rule! I love my 2000 YZ426. I can ride wayyy faster than I could on a 2 smoke. The EPA doesn't care if you make a Zero emissions 2 stroke. Their rules say "no 2 strokes" It is stupid but true. Write to your congress-person to support standards based rules for emissions. In other words "Make it run clean. Who cares how you do it."

Big bore 2 strokes cant be beat? I guess that's an opinioin. :flipoff2: For my buck it's the big bang. Thump'n is the only way to go. I have nothing against oil burners, I love all motorcycles. But the reliability and smooth linear powerband is tit's for being fast and clean. I come from a desert racing background however and in the desert, big thumps rule.
Electric power is a farce. No way it will replace the ICE. I will not say never, but it will be a long and expensive road before it even comes close.
Honda has engineered and has had a running prototype of a damn near emmisions free 2 stroke for years. As for why it's not on the market, I have no idea.

Toyota has a 2 stroke with valves. Makes lotsa horsepower but not alot of torque. The clean Honda was not reliable and Honda isnt about to sell something unreliable.

Mountain bikes... thats the future of dirt bikes
In Ca it dosnt matter if its a two or four stroke, if it dosnt meet the EPA requirements then it gets a red sticker...
I like the weight and smiple-lisity of a 2-stroke big bore.. there is nothing like a CR500 jetted spot on with a big flywheel weight for low end power :nuke:
