I have the Lomax, A few buddies have the Tera. Personally I like that the Lomax gears are 1 piece & not welded like the Tera gears, But we haven't had a problem with either one.

A couple of different guys I know had the Tera gears and both of them blew
up the gears, a number of times. They both went to an Atlas II. This was
before LoMax gears were available. BTW, the Tera gears were the supposedly
stronger "5 gear" sets.

got a tera 3.15 kit in the scout D20 and I like the quality of that kit...heard good things about the lomax too though...

I run Tera gears in my 300. had them and the shafts cryo;d before I put them in. So far they held up great. I run a 360 and a sm420 infront of it.

I got the TERA and it has been working fine. I got only half the directions with the kit but it was not hard to install.

I have had the tera gears for almost 3 years now with no problems at all.

You probably already know this, but DC has a very good price on the Tera here:

Not to leave porc out, they're also having a sale (I haven't PM'd them yet):

I'd rather the LoMax's, but it's hard to beat Tera's price.

My brother has been running the Tera in his D300 and has broken many d44 shafts and driveshafts and the tcase has been fine.

It's behind an auto so that probably helps a bunch but now that we've almost ifnished upgrading to rockwells and 48s down the road we`ll be going with an atlas that's for sure.

If the Tera gears and the low max gears were side by side....I'd take the low max without hesitation. With that said, I've seen the Tera gears hold up pretty well and you can't beat the price.

i just dont see all these super prices on the tera.

looks to me like terra is in the $520 range.. and lomax is $600.

.. the beef of the lomax overshadows that $80??

I have seen the Tera set for around $450, maybe not recently though. I would go with the low max gears for sure if the difference is only $80!

I got a much better quote than that last week from "dc" here on the board.

Two years on my Lomax gears with no problems!

I went with the Terra, but wish I would have gone with the Lomax for no other reason than the beefiness look of them. The Tera kit I have is no slouch and the price couldn't be beat... I think I had them for $501 to my door from DC4WD in 2 days.

I'll also vouch for DC and the Tera gears. No problems here after a few years of running them. Can't remember how much I paid, but remember getting a great deal, along with the 32 spline conversion.

I've had Tera 4-5 yrs, 360/t-18/38tsl's, no problems yet (knock on wood). Lomax definately look stronger. Probably go w/Lowmax if I had to do it again today, price being similar.

Another one for Tera and DC.

A friend broke the tera 4:1 in a d300, but they replaced it. They said it was a process problem and shouldn't happen again, which is cool that they took care of him.

DC does have good prices, I've used a number of times over the past few years.

We just got in another run of LoMax 300 gears. Until the end of October, I will be running a $550 price for Pirate readers if you mention the board when you order. Back to $600 on 11/1. John-JB Conversions; www.jbconversions.com.
