I am currently running a ho302/np435/np205 combo and was contemplating switching to a auto and running a 203 doubler in front of the 205 case.

I read how the c4 builds less heat and uses less horsepower then the c6 so I was wondering if there ever was a c4 transmission that would fit a 302 and have the large 6 bolt transfer case mount with 31 spline output shaft?

Also my friend has a mid 80's ford with a 302 and what I believe is a c5 (due to the hump in the sump pan) It appears to have a 208 transfercase and I was wonder if this would have a 31 spline output. I have seen some people post how you can build a c5 with c4 components to basically end up with a c4.

Any comments?

i have a early bronco c4 that has a 6 bolt t case mount pattern but it is not 31 splines they were less. i built a ranger years ago with a v8 and used a c5 in which i put a c4 valve body and converter.

I also have a c4 from a bronco, but I believe the 6 bolt pattern is on a smaller diameter than the larger transmissions.

What transfer case did you use in the ranger with a v-8? Did the c5 have a 31 spline output shaft?

i used a factory ranger t case borg warner but i dont remember splines it would be worth checking into though.

C5 parts make for a stronger C4, if you keep the right C4 parts...

Every C4 4x4 had 28 splines. I'd be very supprized if the C5 ever had 31 splines...
