I am putting full size running gear under my cj7 and stepped into the steering dept. I was wondering instead of milling and drilling my passenger flat top knuckle, Why cant I just go to the driver side just like chevy did from the factory except in front of the spindle not behind? Using a high steer arm and spacer it will be approximately 1 1/2 inches above the spring and almost level to the pitman arm. Why does every one always run to passenger side?

Those old Chevys did not have cross-over steering. This means the drag link went from the steering box, to the steering arm (front to back)

While they work fine for stock trucks, once you start lifting the vehicle, or flexing you get into problems with the short drag link.

Go to the passenger side with your DL
