Mudzilla Gallery (http://coloradok5.com/gallery/mudzilla)
road1will 03-17-2002, 05:14 PM cool rig. specs?
rodzzilla 03-17-2002, 05:25 PM I love the paint.:) Flat black w/Flames always a good choice. Looks like you come close to the front fenders even w/ all that trimming. Good thing the tires aren't any wider.
flimmy 03-17-2002, 05:27 PM flexes good, I would hate to go through some of the mud holes after you went through them.
Jeff427 03-17-2002, 07:01 PM Specs are;
69' 350, Clark straight 5 speed tranny with 6.99 first gear (stock), 2 1/2 ton GMC military transfercase, 2 1/2 ton GMC axles with 6.17 gears, lincoln locked in the rear, 48" tall Armstrong Industrial tires, 12" Superlift springs with 6" extra added in the front, and 10" extra added in the back and a ton of custom engineering to get the suspension to work as good as it does :D.
WillyPete 03-17-2002, 07:28 PM mmmmmm industrial tractor tires...
is he gonna reinforce the frame any? i noticed that it's twisting in the flex shots

Yes it is twisting some, but it is not as bad as the body would lead you to believe. There are plans for a roll cage (8000 lbs is too much for just the cab to handle if it did go over), so that should take care of it.

clc900 04-21-2003, 12:01 PM With a truck like that who needs low range and suspension flex?? Thats a mud truck so pedal down man! Besides here in michigan we dont have rocks, just lots of mud and well occasionally we run into a car or two. :flipoff2:
TNToy 04-21-2003, 12:29 PM Your monster rubber looks a little on the bald side... you think that's hurting you in the bogs - or is that just the way the pics make it look?
Been a Loooooong time since I saw something on F&R Eaton 1-tons. How hard was it to find lockers/gears/shafts/etc...
What motor is in that beast? A nasty 454, a 502 RamJet, or... :confused:

Just the way the pics make them look, it has no problem with the bogs :D

They aren't 1 tons, they are 2 1/2 tons, and they are easy to get parts for, we have bought three complete 2 1/2 ton GMC's for $250 each

Well, stupid as it may sound, that suspension flex helps a lot in the mud when it gets all rutted up ;), not to mention the fact that there isn't always two cars to lined up to run over :D
Jeff427 04-21-2003, 08:32 PM Another pic, this one is older, but shows some action in the mud;

Two Dogs F..king 04-22-2003, 09:16 PM I like it. But why do you run an open front?
Our rails have open fronts in them, but that's because they travel OVER the pit, so they have to be able to steer quickly.
What is your reason?
PS... what is the tow vehicle, and trailer like for that huge bish?
Jeepmangled87 04-22-2003, 10:15 PM I did big ass mud boggers.
rusted 04-22-2003, 10:25 PM Yep, that's a Michigan truck. :D
MRM4418 04-22-2003, 10:35 PM wow.....kinda remind me of this truck a guy i know of is building- chevy 1ton, 'mogs axles, 49s, coilovers, 454 bored out to 505, 4link with heim joints with 1" threads, and he said he's thinkin about Nos, but i don't know about that..

Main reason is because it is a work in progress, and we haven't gotten to the front yet. We are hoping to find a locker for it, as well as do a disk brake conversion on the front axle, but just haven't got that far yet.
The tow vehicle is a Mack :D.
onetoncv 04-23-2003, 08:44 AM maybe we will get you the nos in there huh jeff- can't wait to get the 1410 long slip in the front going! Its my way of saying thanks for all your help along the year too man! Jesse :D

Most of the bog trucks (Super Stock & such) on this side of the state run open fronts too, not just the rails. You may or may not remember Quentin Tater. Used to run the green "Dig 'Em" Jeep in Perry Hicks' class. Hasn't run in about 10 years, but he dominated that class. In '93 I think he won all but 2 out of 24 events. He was open front AND rear.

Now that you mention it, TEX, we have not had any problems with only spinning one tire in the front while bogging. They have always both spun. Anyway, it is not real high on our priority list at the moment. Need to get the long travel 1410 front driveline from Jess @ High Angle, so we quit pulling the shaft apart when we run over cars :D.

Personally, I think the frame flexes too much, but I read your reply about the rollcage.....
Any idea when you'll be getting around to fingering out the front discs? I'm getting pretty close to buying a pair of the same axles, and want to put discs on also. Also, what wheels and tires are you running?

Perry's been in it for at least 25 years, probably more. And they run open fronts for the same reason as the rails - better control & less breakage.

We plan on running at the Albright Shores mud bogs this year. Probably won't have it at the first event on May 4th, but should be able to get it there after that.
There is an event we will have it at on May 10, you can check on the Michigan board that is linked in my sig below for more info :).

If you look close at the following pic, you can see that they are not that way now, much shorter U bolts, they are also 3/4" threads, so they aren't as small as they look;
