I think that transfercase mount looks real good and beefy, and I'm sure it wont bend but there are other issues as well that I really don't understand why they didn't address them with the mount! I personally have had bolts sheared right from the transfercase mount. I have never actually bent a t-case mount personally though I know people that have. I just think they should make the centre plate come down and mount to some of the other housing bolts to give some more bracing... I think once you do that you will have nothing to worry about..... except for when you put in 6:1 gears and the housing finally explodes from all the stress.... anyways, looks good but I would recommend the extra plate to bolt it down more and make it even more stout.

Looks good. Looks a lot like my Mighty Kong mount. I know I have been happy with how strong mine is. Let us know how it works. ~Steve

Looks like it will be the LAST thing to break. Very well done.

IMHO, you might want to get some Spidertrax poly t-case bushings. Once I finally got my t-case mounts strong enough to last, I started ripping the rubber factory mounts out left and right.

Tuskdaddy has it right, the whole set up is only as strong as the week-ass stock mounts......:D

rotozuk,
The mighty kong is cool but I didn't have $200 to spend. $20 in steel got me mine:flipoff2:

I like my mighty kong, except the stock rubber mounts give too much or maybe I just need to hurry up and get my trac bar already,I get a lot of shudder in first and second taking off,I got the t-case shifter boot off so I can see down there and man it looks scary, all my mounts are new but I guess the compund angle caused by the toy rear end and the soft yj's make it hard not to twist and shudder....what do you all think....need a trac bar huh

Hey Rotozuk,

You really installed the Mighty Kong all by yourself???? Without help??? And the Haynes manual, did it help a lot?? How long did it take?? Did you have all the right tools??? Did you have to take the radiator out and loosen the engine mounts?? What about the driveshafts?? And the shift lever?? I bet it was REALLY hard to get that rubber boot thingy off, huh???

Sorry about all the questions. It´s just that I´m SO excited to be a Newbie here...:p :D

Nice looking Bucket!.....
What i did to help ripping the bolts out of the case was to mount a piece of 1/4x3" strap from the bottom of the case forward to the tranny cross member.
This helps with the front to back torqing that happens.

Thanks Rude, I'll add something to prevent the bolts from breaking out of the case. I might just wait untill I get the 6.1 gears in there:D

Did you weld it to the bottom of your bucket, or just bolt it to the case somehow? Any pics?

Then some guy wants to do something constructive and harmless with his free time and they give him shit...
