I bought a truck bed trailer from this guy the other day and the axle does not look lke the 9" axles I have seen. I have no desire to put it under my RR but I would rather remove it and get a nice new smooth rolling axle under the trailer. So I need to know if its worth holding on to or selling or is it junk.

It from a Ford '64 1 ton, it has huge hubs coming through the wheels and like 6 or so lugs on the hubs. Its a huge diff and from what everyone says about them being snow shuvels this thing looks the part.

I know, this thread is useless without pics, I forgot to take a picture. Somebody who is an expert volunteer and I will send you a picture next week.

If it's a 1 ton, then it could be a Dana 70. There is one in a yard around here that has 5:13s and big 6 lug.

So, just how often do you suppose people put a Dana 60 from the front of a truck into a trailer? Not sure how the king pins would be of any benefit. :shaking:

If it is really a 1ton, it should not be a 9. The easiest way to tell if it is a 9 is if it has a third member. There should be no diff cover, as the gearset is removed as one piece from the front side. If it has hubs coming out, it is a full floater. Unless it is custom, 9's are semifloat and will not have these hubs. Check the webbing for a 60 or 70. If you are real lucky you might find the BOM and be able to cross reference the numbers here:http://www2.dana.com/expertforms/demenu.aspx

could be a eaton axle, they looked like a huge 9'' with a removable 3rd member and i have seen some six bolt version of them before, they are very beefy and would make a good trailer axle. 70 and 60's look like your typical axle the eaton looks like a small tractor truck axle, jason.
