All the manuals simply say remove it with no instructions or tools used. Can it be removed in vehicle. Thanks,

Between the pump hub and the inner radius of the pulleys is either 4 or 8 bolts/ large allen screws/#3 phillips screws.
Remove those and remove the pulleys off of the front of the pump hub.
Yes it can be done in the vehicle.
The pulleys are likely slightly rusted to the pump hub so carefull use with a rubber mallet and/or large screwdriver will help coax them off.

Hey Thanks Darrell,
I thought it was pressed on, but after you said it was bolted on I finally put a mirror in there to get a better view and there are bolts holding it on.
I'll make sure and be careful when prying it off. Learned that once when I ruined a power steering pump pulley before going and getting the right tool.
Do me a favor and check back or subscribe to the thread. If I run into any problems or if I succeed, I'll post the progress.
Thanks,
Dr. Don

Don did you ever get your spring mounts fixed / beef-up? I sent you a photo of what needed to be done, but never heard back.:shaking:

Hey Craig,
Yes, I built them just like the picture you sent me out of two 1/4 inch plate triangles sandwiched together between another 1/4 inch plate to equal the width of the spring hanger and welded it all on. The hangers aren't going anywhere now. Also, I made some other triangles and welded them in several locations on the rear hangers just to be safe. Did this all during the weekend.
Sucks that I didn't write you back and thank you for the info, I thought I had. So thank you for that.
I also found out the next weekend that my steering box was crushing the frame. So I made templates of the frame where the box mounts. Had some 1/4 inch plate made to match the templates and boxed the frame. Man it is super strong now.
How did I get the holes lined up? Paper over steel plate stencil form. Cut out form. Paper place on frame for proper fitment and stencil bolt holes. Using protractor, find exact center of hole. Place paper over steel plate in exact alignment and using hole punch in hole center. Drill out. Using this technique, my holes lined up perfectly. Had to increase bolt size by 1/2 inch.
Also had to use 1/8 inch plate on top and bottom of frame for box spacing clearance and for ease of bending into frame shape. The gutter in front of my house worked very well as a form.
Thanks again,
Doubt i'll have frame issues anytime soon.

I highly recommend you replace the phillips screws with allen head bolts.

You may have some difficulty getting the old screws out. I have had to use an impact driver on some and it is a lot easier if the pump in still on the engine and all the belts are in place in order to provide resistance to turning.

I'll be getting into this tomorrow morning. You both have mentioned phillips head screws and allen bolts, but at first glance it looks like I have 6 regular bolts. I will reply once I take it apart.
Thanks,
Dr. Don
