just about have my hybrid 44 finished......still waitin on parts to be shipped

Saturday, I started workin on a rear tire carrier for the t-all. Decided have the spare in the roof rack wasn't worth the back pain. Using a small bearing chevy spindle and hub as the pivot. Spent yesterday afternoon grinding down the inner lip, and sliced off enough of the flange to fit the bumper. Then welded spindle to the bracket that will be bolted to the bumper. This way the tire carrier assembly can be disassembled from the bumper. I just need to take the hub to my machinist tomorrow and have the flange cut out on the lathe.

Sunday, I replaced the front shocks on a buddy's Ranger. Sheared off the right side bottom stud. Cut and grinded, and drilled out the remaining stud. Then welded in a 5/8" bolt for a replacement. Worked out pretty good.

This week I need to have Snoopy make my tierod for me, and hopefully have this polished turd of an axle stabbed in by the end of the weekend. Gotta have it ready for opening of pheasant!

Helped my loacal parts guy for $6/hr, got a girl's phone #, pulled the back of my 242 off in the vehicle, but couldn't see anything wrong. (I put in in 4wd and it wouldn't go back to 4wd) Played around with my guitar for a bit. I still suck at it.

Took off the Hummers wheels and replaced the old wheels with hand-me-down 35", then took my junk off the jackstands. Ordered some B. C. Br*ncos spring rockers instead of lift blocks for the rear and still wondering about the front buggy spring set up. Want something that flexes like it, but is not it. (Make sense?) Think budget, this winter's project is the engine swap. :smokin:

Mounted the front "Proto" springs and front axle. Still looking for the right housing for the rear (9").

Finished replacing all my body mounts. Funny how it sits level now. :)

Then I met up with a group going wheeling (at Crown King) - at a "meeting spot" about 25 miles from my house. The goal was to get to the meeting spot and return w/o breaking down (on paved roads :flipoff2: ). I succeeded. I did hit 65 mph for a brief moment going downhill. Though WOT was usually around 55-ish.

Next up... fix a brake line. valve cover gasket, and then finish gathering little stuff for my new axles. :)

pussy! I feel fine, couple Tylenol before bed and all it well!!

HOS helped me move a SHIT LOAD of top-soil so I might actually get grass in my back yard before the winter (and can go on to other things like wheeling).

Today it pissed down rain all day just enough to make moving any more dirt a wasted effort. Shitty part is I had more help coming today and would have had no problem finishing it in time for the hydroseader on Monday, looks like I have to call him and postpone.

As for IH stuff.... not a damn thing...... again

Went to Shiloh Ridge in Alto, TX for a little wheeling:

Bent 2 leaf springs and figured that I need to link my front end to fix all the little problems I have. Looks like coils are going to be my winter project.

I traced down some bad grounds ~ not really bad, just not hooked up :shaking: ~ then I finished mounting all the senders for Rusty's gauges. Changed the oil/filter in Rusty, cranked it over a bunch then ran it on starter fluid for a bit.

Still waiting on a MG altinator, I ordered one custom. Pauls building one that I can simply put a single ignition hot to and then the output goes straight to the battery ~ should make it simple enough for me to figure out.

I think i found a 203 rangebox for $25 ~ I'll pick that up.

Sliced my rocker and worked on a slider/floor reinforcement. Slider cutout area is for the fuel tank compartment, which drops lower than the floor. Worked 10-hr graveyard shifts all weekend.

Cleaned the shop on Saturday while some club folks rebuilt power steering boxes. Actually got the shop ready for the new heaters to go in, one of which was delivered on Saturday by a friend. Will be nice not heating this year with a wood fired forge :D

Wife made enough dinner later that day to feed an army, so some folks hung around till about midnight.

Sunday didn't do squat. Thought about changing a fuel pump on one of the rigs, but decided I got dirty enough Saturday.

Binderbound and myself spent Saturday following a bunch of Toyota around Browns Camp. We had a great time, the truck ran pretty good and we destroy anything, well except the rear leafs AGAIN! We figured one run without the new traction bar wouldn't hurt them as we had the AAL's in them. The short little circle around Little Crushers and they were toast. We also decided we need a new front clip, ther is no saving the old one. We beat the truck pretty bad, but even with the smallest tire and the least clearence we kept right up! Sunday my family took a cruise up the Gorge to Parkdale OR and bought apples. Great fall colors, great weather, great food at Big Horse Brewery, and great family. This weekend was quite possibly the best one I have had in the last few months!!:D

Yeah it is. There's lots of sculptured desert artsy fartsy stuff out here in the west. I guess you gotta wheel here to appreciate it. I have an old pic of a 6 foot tall dinosaur built with all kinds of hardparts that used to be at the entrance of Sledge.

Them slider boxes anything like Z-boxes. It's RS now, but this big 'ol Br*nco has been staring me down. I could probably pull it off for a few hundred and have most the parts. Just waiting to see what Mechanos does, and then do the opposite. :flipoff2:

How much $ and how long did it take to get the Scout over there ?

It cost me $100 for the local dock handlers/security here in Sicily!!!
I didn't ask....if you know what I mean.

It was $100 for the space Available shipping on a Navy ship.

Took about 40 days for her to arrive.
There was some BS about replenishing ships that were at war in the gulf or some crap.
It really pissed me off to think my scout was delayed for something so trivial.
Didn't they know I had wheeling to do!!!:cool2:
I actually had to fly to Crete, Greece for work and the ship with my truck on it was setting there while I was there!!!

I have already wheeled in Germany and twice here in Sicily!!!!
I am now building a cheap little suzuki to beat on and save the scout for the road trips to the rest of Europe!!

I hope you have a really comfortable chair. If you know anything about the way I tend to function, you'd know that I'm slower than a 7 year itch! I tend to spend a ton of time designing and gathering parts and redesigning. I end up building it over and over again in my head, make a few drawing here and there to clear up some cloudy issues and stare at shit forever. Then I actually pick up some tools and do it.

Speaking of which, Mechanos, you should add both of what's left of your CB antennas to the artsy fartsy trail marker. Keep American Beautiful!

#1: I HATE cold weather (anything below 65 is too cold)
#2: Nothing happened to my house. The news always makes hurricanes out to be horrible, where in fact, all that really happens is you loose trees and shingles off of your roof if it is really old. I got some of the worst part of charley last year (i am ~10 miles south of punta gorda) and the only thing we had to do was straiten the fence and cut up trees. Most of the deaths from hurricanes come from morons in mobile home parks or people doing stupid stuff after the hurricane.

with that said, i am planning to move out west asap. I am tired of all of the mud here, we even have some places with salty mud:shaking:
