I was going up I-15 this morning and as I always do I looked over at the gates for the entrance to Cleghorn trail and this is the first time in 3 years or so that I've seen BOTH gates open. Hopefully someone from one of the clubs with forest service ties will chime in here and let us know whether it is officially open or someone just left the gate open on accident.
I know its not hard-core wheeling but it would be nice to have it back in the inventory.

Thanks for the link. Looks like its back open. I'd like to get up there soon and check it out if I can get one of my rigs back off the jackstands :)

Dusty,
When you get your rig running you may want to check out the trail (I don't have my map or would give you the number) that leads into the Seven Oaks Dam off of Hwy 30. With all of the rain we had last spring, the dam formed a decent sized lake. The dam has now been drained (quite a few rocks in the former lake bed) and the result is a fun little trip that is closer to home. :)

Thanks for the tip. I've never been down into the canyon from that side but I used to go in from the Angelus Oaks side quite a bit. I think that's FS road 1N09 that goes through there? Anyhow there's another nice huge rock garden back in past Clark's Ranch, I believe its along Bear Creek before it flows into the santa ana river, below Slide Peak. I'm sure you can get to it from the 30 side too but we always went in from 38 since its closer to my place. I'll have to check out the lake bottom when I get a chance. I hadn't been over that way for a few years but for some reason I was under the impression they had all the roads blocked getting into the area behind the dam.
My trail rig is down for a few months I'm 4-linking the rear and putting a 60 in the front. In the meantime I'm getting my old parts Bronco up and running so I'll have something to beat on while the trail rig is on jackstands. Hope to have the parts rig running by Thanksgiving to take it to Truckhaven.
