Finishing my RR44 for the front of my YJ and have a brake clearance problem. I am running pre-77 Chevy spindles, 84 Ford F150 hubs and rotors, and 76 Chevy calipers on 77+ Chevy solid backing plates. I am unable to get the inner brake pad to fit. It is about 1/16" too thick to fit between the rotor and the caliper, and the rivits on the pad won't allow it to drop low enough in the backing plate to align with the caliper. Any ideas? I'm so close to finishing this I can taste it...and it tastes like chicken.:flipoff2:

Does it hit the cylinder or the caliper itself on the cylinder side? My guess is you need to compress the cylinder fully with a big C-clamp. If the cylinder is already fully compressed (flush with the rest of the inner caliper surface, your brakes are too big. :D Maybe there was a mixup at the parts store...

On the brake setup I run (Chev calipers and backing plates with CJ rotors) I have to grind the inner pad down about that much to get it to fit. I just use one of those mouse sanders with 180 grit and a respirator.

this a common problem with this swap.
bonded style brake pads usually do the trick, the riveted style tend to be a little thick.
