will the stock EB power steering pump work well on a full hydro setup? running 39-42" tires?

thanks

In one word , no ! The trw pump is very weak and won't last long!
I swapped to an 86' e -150 van pump . Make sure it has the 302
and the correct pulley. If your'e using a serpintine set - up you could change it out pretty easily . Get all the bracketry and bolts as these will be helpful . Try a search on this site if this doesn't help . You will have to change out the inlet on the back of your new swap as the 86' model used an o- ring type of fitting . Mine is
off of an 82' Camaro , and the corresponding hose will work also !
Good luck to you . :smokin: :flipoff2:

gotcha. but what exactly is involved? get the pump off of a van, but how hard is it to bolt on? grab the 302 bracket too and good to go? do i need a belt for a van too then? thanks.

:) Use the stock eb bracket , w / the adjustment . You will need to
make a new slot just slightly above the old slot . I mocked mine up off the vehicle , a lot easier and better . Either a drill & alot of
filing or it can be milled , prolly fairly cheap at a machine shop . Have the old slot welded up or just leave it as I did . For the spacer between the head and the bracket , the van spacer will need to be trimmed a little though . I just took a small bit at a time with an angle grinder til it fit . As for the belt I went to my
favorite parts house and got 4 or 5 belts and tryed til I got the right fit and tension . A good counter- man is paramount to this
swap as is patience . I've had this swap in place close to a yr. and
have had no problems with it . I have 38" swampers on a d44 w/
a welded diff and it does great . With the brand new stock trw pump it whined right from the get go ! :flipoff2:
