What you runnin for fluid in your atlas. I lost my manual but I think it was TOrco MTF. Just curious if anybody runs somethin different.

Keith, that is correct - Torco MTF. Here are the recommended alternatives:

Castrol Syntec 5w-50, Valvoline 20w-50 or Mobil 1 Synthetic 15w-50.

2 more things. Is the Torco MTF synthetic? And can synthetics be mixed?

my understanding is that they can be mixed, but you lose the gains that synthetic would give ya...and the extra bucks for the syn. would be wasted.
personally, I just run the regular stuff all in my Jeep and change often. Cheaper and I think just as good, protection wise.

from the Torco site...
'Torco MTF is designed for high performance 2-cycle motorcycle transmissions where low viscosity is required. MTF is a blend of the finest synthetic and high viscosity index (VI) petroleum base oils and the most shear stable synthetic polymers. This formula provides superior wear protection, extended clutch life, better cooling and improved shifting of motorcycle transmissions. '
so it's syn...I wasn't sure so I had to check:D

Killer, thanks Cutter. Basically, I am a half quart or so low, and I wanted to through some castrol synthetic in it to keep it full till the next change :D

I'm pretty sure that would be okay. When I was thinking of going all syn. I was reading the back of the B&M Synth. tranny fluid and it said you could mix 'em but you wouldn't get the full advantage. But at over $8 bucks a quart, I decided to just change my fluid often:D I think they would all be okay mixin, but I might not mix brake fluids together.

I topped mine off with 0W - 50(they call it "Extreme")Mobil - 1 Synthetic. Then when I changed the fluids, I stayed with the Mobil - 1, 0W-50. I use synthetics for everything in my rigs, except for gear oil in diffs durring the winter months,( I change the gear oil to often in the winter to spend the cash for synthetics). Im just to hard on my junk, to not at least give it the best lubrication possible, while Im fawkin it up. Mobil - 1 Synthetic grease is a good product also.

Yeah, I run synthetics too Jeff....cept my diffs like you cause its too damn much money. I am just gonna top it with the castrol syn 20-50 I got and change the fluid next month. I just need to drive it, I am going stir crazy ;)

"This unit is shipped dry. Before operation of your Atlas, please fill with the recommended gear lubricant. (Torco MTF).
If you are unable to find this lubricant, a high quality 75-90 wt. synthetic gear lubricant can be used."

Hmmmm, maybe I better dig into my pile of paperwork, and look for my manual. I have been running 50w in it for the last few months. For the trails I wouldnt think it would matter, but I often take my rig on cruises up to Tahoe, or out to Monterey where I easily hit 75-80mph for sustained periods....

My thought on this was gear oil. It is nothing more than a beefed up 300 and 300's came with gear oil.

Well mine is all comming out of the Jeep this week anyway to replace my busted NP435. I'll change out the fluids.
I might send the T case into AA for an upgrade to a 32 spline front shaft (depends on how long they say it will take to return). They can go over it really well while they have it.
