Since the scout arm is soooooo fawkin long, to be cheap could i cut it and redrill it to lessen the stress for a temp fix till i do some assist? If so, how much do i cut, are there any other options? I realize i will be loosing some turning radius, but i cant go lock to lock anyway because my tires hit the leafs

Why don't you just get a different pitman arm? A waggoneer one comes to mind. I think they are 7" on center.

There will not be enough meat around the BJ stud, why not just go down to the Pic-n-Pull and grab a Heep Grand Waggy pitman arm?
See here, third pic is off the Grand Waggy pitman arm:

How much will this waggy arm reduce my steering? Do they fit on the scout box ( stupid ? of coarse they do.) and what should i expect to pay for one? Parts are hard to come by out where i live. Everything is picked over real bad.
