Pressing carrier bearings off with a socket, bearing puller, hi-lift and two c-clamps isn't that great, but it works.

Right click-save as, for future reference.

Good job on coming up with something out of nothing:cool2:

It reminds of Hayracker's guide to Gear Swapping (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97211)

Well if you remove the bearing puller and socket, then put the hilift on the bearing, that would work if you want to remove the ring gear, or two hilifs and two really big clamps. If it wasn't for the crosspin you could make something to go through the center of the diff to prees it on.

I have two axles to do now, and one next spring sometime. If you want to press bearings off and on for me I'd welcome it.

You can make one of the "crappy" HF pipe benders work as a press with a few simple mods...

Why bother, their 12 Ton press costs $89 and works fine for carrier bearings ;)

Definitely an "A" for using what you have laying around. But you can attach a harmonic balancer puller to your clamshell and do it a little easier

(George Clinton voice on) It would be ludicrous to think that this is new to us, we do this, this is what we do! (George Clinton voice off)

Lemme know, I've got a new press on the way (60 ton!!!)
