OK, so I am joining the reald world and getting rid of the slip yoke setup on the YJ. I am ordering the PORC SYE kit. I have searched, but am drawing a blank. What I need is a new rear driveshaft that is not going to cost me $250+. My driveline guy will shorten and balance a shaft for $55, so I need to come up with a shaft that he can cut down.

Yes I did search, but I could not find anything. Does anyone have an answer (Or better yet, the d-shaft I need)? I heard a cherokee front driveshaft will work, but they are apparently made from gold in my town ($100+).

So, let me have it, do your worst PBB.

You Can Also Use A Tj Front, But They Are Not As Thick As One You Can Have Built. After 100 Fot The Shaft And Another 100 To Resize It Your Only Looking About 50 More For A New Custom Shaft.

What about a wagoneer front d-shaft (that I have) and is there any bastard u-joints that would make the fit?

I run front XJ d.s. f/r in my 91' XJ with a 4:1 241 Rock trac t-case and auto. The XJs front stafts are also double cardian so that helps angles. I just got 1from pnp for $13 and wish I had time to pull more. That was during 1/2 price weekend, so $26 any other day. Not bad and you can then just get them resized. They have 1310 u-joints in them. I like that because the weaklink is then the driveshafts and hopefully will go before something harder to get to.

I'll 2nd the XJ shaft. I have been running one in the rear of my TJ for 2-3 years. Cost $20 from a pick n pull.

I used a Ford Exploder driveshaft on mine. Had to have it shortened of course. It is a larger diameter than the XJ front shaft option but same u joint. Cost me 30 dollars at a pick and pull place.

Was this the front d-shaft that you used? or the rear? (On the explorer)

I'm actually not sure, I didnt even look. The shaft was in a large pile of shafts in the back of an explorer. I think it was the rear though.

Doesn't it have to be a rear? Since the newer models all have IFS?

No, if the front pinion angle in not paralel with the front output the manuf will use a DC shaft and point the pinion at the output. you would be suprised how much an Ifs moves while driving.

It was from the older models with ttb, and I was at a junkyard today, its the front shaft.
