Well i finally got my 38.5x14.5 Swamper SX's on my D44ed TJ. Well the rear is the Warn full float kit, and I think it should be fine. The front i broke at Paragon and so its time to order some new parts.

Im thinking Warn chrome moly full circle clip shafts with CTM or OX u-joints.

Does anyone have any experience with either the warn shafts or the heavy duty u joints.

Do a search or at least read the CTM post at the top of the page.

I think the CTMs should handle your requirements and, they will laugh at 38.50x14.50 SX's, even with major HP involved.
OX odesnt have anything out yet, not to mention the CTM's have been thoroughly tested and come with a lifetime warranty.
I know people who, actually abuse the CTM's :D

What about the rear axle?

I'm contemplating this too, going to 38.5s and moser/warn/ctms - well, I'm not contemplating it, it's a matter of when LOL

But I was wondering what you guys thought of rear moser/warn chrome moly shafts? Will that give the rear 44 enough strength to deal with the 38.5 SXs?

Everyone talks about the front u joints, which is good, but generally speaking the rear axle shafts take more of a beating than the front ones, and typically you need stronger axle in the back. I'm not too concerned with front strength - if it can handle H8, it can handle me (no offense Jeff) - but I'm a little concerned with the rear strength with high strength shafts, and if I have to swap a 60 there, then we get into a whole slippery slope of mods, and I may as well do the front at the same time, blah blah blah - but I'd rather stick with my 44s, i like the width, steering, and brakes and everything I have now.

So, does anyone have experience or opinion on the strength of warn/moser shafts in a rear normal rotation 44 - will it handle 38.5 SXs, given that stock waggy shafts are holding up fine for me with 35 SXs now?

Thanks.

Chad

Moser shafts in the rear will handle the power you want to give it, or at least it has so far in my buddy's rig. He's runnin 38 TSL's, and he runs the crap out of that thing, with no problems yet.
