: How Funny Would It Look?????

Ok so I am thinking of getting a K5 Blazer for My DD/wheeling rig. Being that I have owned one previously I am planning on upgrading the 10 bolts. I can probably get my hands on an early 80's dullie for free and rip out the 60 and 14 bolt. My question is would it look awkward to leave then full width and slam on some hummer rims. I'll probably keep the lift to a minimum for now and only run 35's due to low finances but I can do the axle swap for next to nothing and then the only thing I would have to buy would be the Hummer rims and some tires. Future plans would be to introduce it to Mr Sawzall and get some 42's under it with as little lift as possible. But that is a ways down the road.

So what do you people think?????? :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

I think you will have to run a spacer on the rear axle to get the track width closer to the front. Otherwise it sounds like a great idea. The hummer rims are a sweet set up. Hell, ya might even be able to get a set w/the Military 35's already on. Might be an even cheaper swap.:)

If you could get them for opening bid, that would be great.

There is a guy here that has a dually 60/70 combo on a scrambler. He ended up real wide.He has 2" backspaced rims in the rear. Not sure what the fronts are.I do know it is wide!!
I have thought of doing this though.Need to measure up my dually, and see where it would end up.I have thought about this because dually 60s are cheaper and easier to find.Blazin:rasta:

Well if I end up getting the rig then I might just have to try it. I'll be in Wyoming so it wouldn't look out of place if comes out really wide.

Thanks for the tip on the Rims. I am watching it and might throw a bid in a little later down the road. :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

OK got another question. So I can get my hands on this doner truck and honestly all it needs is an engine rebuild and I wll be set to go. It has a 400ci with the T400 and the 205 t-case. Should I leave the K5 stock(well its already lifted and on 35's) and start choping away at the truck or just swap all the shit and sell all the leftovers. I guess what would be more fun on the trail. I could really go to town and shorten the Wheel base on the truck and scrap all the sheet metal and then tow it around with the blazer.

OH MAN what should I do. I want a rig for the 4th of july weekend but I just don't know which one. :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

I guess I'm biased (see my sig) but I say the cut the dually down to size, ditch the bed, put the hummer wheels on, and have fun. Everything is already there and you can have fun without worrying too much about street ability (or not at all if you trailer) since you have your K5 for DD and mild trails. To me, it's much easier and faster to cut down than constantly modify and reinforce to build up...

Throw the running gear in the blazer, jerk the tub off the blazer and throw a crew cab on it. Fuel cell out back and cut off any frame that you don't need then wheel the shit outta it.

Or, Keep the blazer and have fun :)
