There are all sorts of hummer rims as I can tell. I have read that the H2 rims are not as strong as the H1.

I have seen by reading between the lines that the H1 rims are prefered over the Military ones.

I have read there are magnesium runflats/bead locks, and rubber ones.

So school me,
I have a 79 ford D60 front 8 lug (w/large calipers).
I wll be getting a 14 bolt rear

I would like to get the stronger ones of course, but what I am looking for is pro's and con's on the different types of rims.

Magnesium runflats are better because ....
Military rims are better because...

Thanks in advance for sharing your knowlege and time.

The military rims are better than the H2 cause they are BEADLOCKS. I heard that the rubber run flats are better because they wont hurt your tire a low air pressure. If you run the H1 rims you might have to recenter them.

Search for 66CJean he can hook you up with some rims and also re-center them for you. One stop shop that also does rock rings, pvc run flat, etc. As a plus he is within driving distance :cool2:

H1 Hummve are 16.5 " 7" back spacing bead locking rims. There are two types 8 bolt and 12 bolt. (not lugs) the bolts holding the rims together. The 12 bolt were created to handle a higher weight rating over 10,000 lbs. and has a stronger edge lip ( thicker) the 8 bolts are what most folks use as they are half the price of the 12 bolt rims and the lip can be made stronger with a lip ring. Most go with the PVC insert, but some like the Mag run flats too. The rubber ones are just a PIA to install.

The mag can be helpful in not allowing your side wall to collapse all the way and getting a pinch flat, ( climbing a water fall and one rear tire is carrying all the weight.) But you still run the risk of damaging the inside of the tire when it does touch the Mag run flat.

H2 aluminum non bead locking 17" rims with a 5" back spacing from H2
