I got a 98 zj, and my cv's are starting to bite the dust. I got 33's and a 4.5" lift. I'm wondering if the stock replacements for the d30 will be fine, or snap like twigs. If so, are the alloy shafts the goods? I do plan on switching to the u-joint style shafts, and will the axles for an xj work for me?:smokin:

axles from the zj and xj are the same i think, 30 front 35 rear. as far as replacing the cv i know no difference between stock and alloy

i think you can just swap in dana 30 shafts from a XJ or TJ. Only one way to find out....

if you dont plan to go to big or do serious of wheeling i'd polish the turd with alloys. worse comes to worst later if you do decide to go bigger (tires and axles) theres plenty of people looking for turd polish.

I dont know if I would pay for alloys, but those cv's are known to come apart.......a stock TJ or XJ shaft will work.........A u joint style shaft isnt gonna snap quicker than your old cv style, especially not with 33's, but i would hold off on the alloys, and use that money for an upgraded axle later..............
