Hello all. Just joined the fourm.
I purchased a salvaged 2000 sport 4.0l auto. It is hit in the front. It will need fenders, front axle assy (3.07 )and transfer case.I Never owned a jeep.
I've been doing a little research, and am not sure about the front axle. Should I put in back stock or bigger. Some sites say the xj axle assy will work, others say a 95+ exployer will work. What should I look at?
I have many part cars including the above. (jeep and exployers ).
What way is the cheapest? What is the best.
I'd like to install a min 4 in suspention lift at the same time I repair this jeep.
Just want to do it right. I won't be doing a rock climbing , probally never even go off road, just a daily driver.
Sorry it so long. Thanks for the help.

Find a D30 out of a XJ (high pinion) or another TJ (Low pinion).

Look on ebay for a cheap lift like skyjacker. If you aren't going to wheel it, it doesn't matter. The Longarm kits ($$$$$$$$) will make it ride better however.

where are you located? i have a HP D30 front axle housing with 3.07's that is sitting in my side yard

I find it hard to fathom that you purchased a "First Jeep" as:

A) a DD

B) something you will not take off-road

then posted here. :flipoff2:

Why salvage a Jeep?? Reliabilty?? Resale value?? Styling and good looks????

go away. I was born in a CJ. :flipoff2:

and you can pick up a d30 stock replacement (that's your front axle, it's a Dana 30 for cheap if you look. Make sure your frame is straight. Trans case should not be too hard to find. any TJ will work, and I imagine will bolt up easily.

Thank you for your help. That wasn't hard, was it ?
I thought my 96 xj diff would , but was looking for confirmation....

hey xj ranger. I am in albany ny . Are you in the NE ? I need to check the gear ratio of the one I have , if it is wrong , I'm interested in yours.

what does the mean ???

I may , but we get lots of snow in these parts too.

then posted here.

I own a repair shop/dealership and body shop. I will have this 70k 2000 jeep wrangler sport , auto, completed, lifted w/adjustable suspention w/33'' tires , for less than 7k done. Got somewhere else that can be done? (my cost). Now i can sell it for much profit, and have on others, but this one is for me

A personal opinion---I wonder how this site will do in the long run if some of you continue to bash the newbies? I wonder how the site sponsors and suppliers feel about this???? I own many cars and have found a lot help from sites like these for my supercharged mustang and bmw m3, my 67 bbc camaro, my bbc nova , my efi 69 mustang etc.... This is the first one that I have seen so much anger.
IF YOU DON'T WANT HELP PEOPLE , DON'T RESPOND .

for those who answer normally, THANK YOU. You are keeping this website alive and thriving. Guys like me really do appreciate the help and effort that you take.

if you go with 33s you want lower gearing (higher numerically) than 3.07s

Find a Ford8.8 with 4.10 gears and LSD and get a XJ HP and install 4.10 gears into it.

Golden combo for 33s :)

Not true, some NP231's off TJ's are 23 spline input and some are 21 spline...

And once you find one you can swap you old input gear-assuming your case cracked and not your input gear-it takes 15 minutes...

I was under the impression there was no flaming on the Newbie boards...

Also-if there are all these Jeep guru's on here like solarpower and scope-why are you reading the newbie Jeep forum-when you already clearly have all inclusive/comprehensive worldly knowledge of all Jeeps?

The D30 will be fine on your daily driver and you can find them cheapas they are swapped out all the time...

I assume he picked a salvage Jeep for the #1 answer to most questions...$$$

have to agree with scope on this one, I am sure even a shitty dana 30 will survive on a DD TJ, for christs sake, that is what they come with at the factory, they can even take some occasional pot holes:flipoff2:

probably will never go offroad, than WHY BOTHER, just throw some JC Whitney chrome on it and call it a day

by the way, mallcrawlin, ain't that bad.
don't you something better to do ?

krazeemofo has just replied to a thread you have subscribed.....
First off-Learn to search- It is not the the board communities responsibilty to babysit every ignorant newbie who has no internet couth-so quit crying.

Who asked for your opinion?
This board has thrived over several years while training newbie idiots much like yourself. Vendors on here see way more money fro folks like myself who 10k+ annually on their extreme rock crawling vehicle then they will ever see from you and your DD (daily driver).

Consider this your offical welcome:flipoff2:

I always search extensively.
I buy 10k worth of auto products a month. Sure, it's not your hi-perf stuff, but it is suspentions, brakes, tires etc...I've spent 3 times that on my own upgrades to my DD'ERS this year alone...This is my newest one.
I will be at sema tommarrow checking out the latest and greatest, will you? I will express my inflence across the broad spectrum of auto suppliers, do you ?
WHY ARE YOU BASHING NEWBIES??????

I give up you win, I will look for another site. Some of you guys need to get a life. Answering this shit is wasting my time.
for those of you who answered resectfuly, I sincerly thank you...

ok then at least learn proper english and spelling!

I did read your first post, you want to either use a front axle out of a XJ, hmmm thats a solid front axle NOT cv. and if your thinking of putting a CV axle out of a Explorer your a moron! plain and simple and you should be flamed!!! lots of people come here to learn how to do the opposite. fron cv to solid! And if you would have researched a little for yourself before asking you would have learned that the only axle peeps get from the explorer is the REAR 8.8. You can see I only have very few posts BECAUSE I RESEARCH and look for the answers digging through all the SHIT like this only slows me down and does not stop me from learning WHAT IS WHAT. SEMA, ok well you got me there, but i would imagine you'll be there sweeping the floor or cleaning out the toilets. 10k a month huh you must be slow at your shop? I would think so. lucky your still in business. at my shop thats what it costs a month to keep the doors open, oh wait got out of that (owned a jewelry store, sterling silver). :mad3:

If you read anywhere on this site before posting most people here BUILD THERE OWN SHIT, not bolt on a kit. and believe me the influence this board has in the off-road world is far greater than any your little shop has.

i'm begining to like posting here!!! esp like this.:flipoff2:
