Can anyone tell me what chevy calipers fit the same mounts as the cadillac calipers. I converted the rear of my CJ7 (D44 rear) to the Cadillac calipers and my brakes are worse than ever. The front end has wagoneer D44. I have searched every forum I can find and tried just about everything suggested, but still poor brakes. I have used the original master cylinder, a cadillac 4 wheel disk brake master and the latest a 79 Firebird master cylinder. The firebird master helped a little but not enough to consider hitting the trail in it. So I am ready to through in the towel on the cadillac calipers and try something different. Any suggestions?

I don't know much, but did it have drum orginally ? If yes, maybe your porportioning valve needs to be changed ?

loose the stock proportioning valve all together and run the front brakes strait off the master and the rear to an adjustable proportioning valve.
Find a big empty parking lot and do med/high speed stops and adjust the valve right in between when you get front dive and rear wheel locking up.
The caddy calipers should work fine for "stopping" where they bring the suck is with their emergency brake.
Last time i checked they are the same size as a regular full size GM/FSJ front caliper.

They also have to be initially set before putting the e-brake lever onto the caliper. Making sure you bleed the brakes properly will also determine if the pedal is going to feel good or not.

Correct. You need to adjust them, then bleed them. No one seems to know how to do this properly, even after being given directions.
If your tired of fawking with them, and just want non ebrake calipers, get some for a 90 S10 Blazer 4wd. These are a direct replacement for the small caddy calipers. Even the brake pads will work.

I forgot to mention that I have already bypassed the proportioning vavle altogether (front and rear). I think you are correct about not adjusting them properly, even with directions. I feel like the passenger side adjusted correctly but never felt right about the drivers side.
I have heard of some guys using 2lb residual valves. Would this help in my situation?
Thanks for the help. If I don't figure this out soon I am going to the non ebrake calipers.
