I have a 00 d30 , after getting info from this forum, I found that I can use my 96 xj hp30 as a replacement. Here's the question...
My 00 has a busted case and axle on left side, Can I take my 00 carrier and gears and install them in the hp d30 ? I don't think the gear ratio will be the same.
Is the 96 xj transfer case the same ?or will work ?
What are d60 and d44 differentials found in? I may try to make this upgrade now if I already have them in something...

Sorry for so many questions.....Flame me if you want, I don't care.
Thanks for the help...

so you have an 00zj with a fawked up front diff

and you also have a complete 96 XJ D30

I am not sure if the ZJ's are HP or not, but if i remember corectly, they arent, meaning that the gears wont cross over

a carrier on the other hand would - unless if they are at the other end of the carrier break

another better option would be to just replace the shafts - though if the XJ didnt have ABS and the ZJ did, then you would also have to find a stub shaft with an ABS tone ring.

as far as the T-case the NP231 (what is most likely in that 96XJ -unless it has a full time option - then it is a NP242) it should bolt up with a possible input gear swap.

i think you need to do some reading and ask some specific questions before you do anything

id also take a look at www.mallcrawlin.com a grand cherokee website

and sadly enough - JU is probably the best place for info on WJ's.

I'm messing this all up. Let's start over
I have a 00 wrangler sport 6cyl auto. It has a broken left axle and case. The carrier, gears, carrier bearings are all good.
I also have a 96 grand cherokee( zj ?) with a good front assy.
I've been told this will go in my tj ? But I think the gear ratio will be wrong.
Can I swap over my tj carrier and left axle into the grand cherokee one ?
there is not abs on either one.

Thanks for the info on the t-case , i check it and pull it tommarrow.
thanks for the websites....
