would there be any issues? I flat tow my sami and want to add hydro assist over the winter

Generally, same stuff applies as before, flat towing with assist will be mostly like flat towing without it. As long as the steering is unlocked, it'll float like normal, but the assist will tend to stabilize it just a bit more.

I'm trying desperately to refrain from asking how many miles you flat tow, and how close the tire wear costs on a rig that needs hydro assist, would get you to buying a trailer instead... eh, ohwell, I already did it.

well, I know for a fact, the old school pre 76' ford hydro assist setup will absolutely NOT flat tow. But that setup is a bit different from conventional hydro assist.

has anyone ever tried to flat tow with full hydro?

the rig is a sami, its pretty light and tows easy, I have a full floater and just unlock all the hubs and go. I am wanting hydro because when I am running my 35's I start having issues with the steering and I've tried all the other tricks to get it to work better. I do have a trailer that I use on longer trips but like to flat tow it to the closer trails (within an hours drive) and want to make sure that the ram dosent hydro lock the steering without the steering wheel turning

So you have a truck that has steering issues that you are going to try to mask by adding hydro assist and then drag it around with another truck? Flat towing is gay to begin with, why make it stupid and gay? Use your trailer before the thing takes your tow rig out, or someone else's vehicle or them.

man, tough crowd today. I dont really have steering issues, just the same issues everyone else with hydro had when twisted up in the rocks. It flat tows fine, its not a 6000lb truck on 38's. I do prefer the trailer but sometimes there are issues with parking them, we dont have parking lots at the trail heads here

I used to flat tow the Cruiser when it had assist, didn't feel any different than before it had the assist.

pmurf is fully right about flat towing being gay:D

If you have a balanced system and a reactive valve, it'll work fine. I haven't done it myself, but have customers who have.
