Having a problem in the mornings when I try to start the truck it won't do nothing but turn over. Tested the fuel pressure, I have 55 psi at start up, and about 65 psi when running. Replaced the fuel filter. The thing thats messed up is if you spray starter fluid it will start up and run fine, no hesitation, no miss, like there's nothing wrong with it at all. After getting it running, you can shut it off and it will start back up. But, after leaving it sit for a few hours it will not start back up. At start up I am not getting fuel into the intake. Give me some ideas of what could be wrong.

i'm a jeep guy this 4.3 is kicking my ass
Thanks,
Edwin

if you turn the key to the ON position several times does the fuel system prime up and will it run? If so, it may just be draining back and loosing prime.

before you spend a weeks pay on injectors, try replacing the fuel pressure regulator. costs between 50-60 and it could solve the problem. it did for me, as my problem was identicle to yours.

Did you get this figured out yet? If it was none of the above suggestions try one more thing. Unplug your computer and smell the harness for gas. If you have a leaky injector it will pump gas through the harness into the computer and short it out. When we took mine out and emptied it there was about a cup of gas in it.

Here is how the chain of events went for me. Truck wouldn't start, problem no gas. Beat the gas tank with a hammer while somone cranked it over and it started. It worked for about two weeks until it happened agian. I went through the same process to get it started and took it to a mechanic for a fuel pump(its a pricey unit). When I shut it off there it did not start again until the new pump was in.
Fast forward a couple weeks and a trip to Baja, and it just shuts down on the road. Crank it over but nothing. Turns out the mechanic had heard about this before. A leaking injector multiplied by a new fuel pump filled the computer with gas and stopped the truck.
The old injectors were tappet style and I guess were prone to failure, new one seem to have solved the problem.

I just had a similar problem on my 2001 Chevy Blazer with the 4.3L. It wouldn't start always and had a lack of power. We took it to the dealer and found out the fuel injection harness (electrical harness and fuel injectors) were faulty. It turns out GM has a warrenty on the injectors 10 years or 100,000 miles. They replaced this harness and it runs like it was new. Hope this helps.

I've seen this exact problem several times and it has been the pulsation damper between the fuel pump and the metal line in the tank. You need to remove the sender unit and look at the oval piece that connects the fuel pump to the hard line. It will usualy have a tear in it. Most chevy dealers keep them in stock. Another quick tip to remove the sender, if your truck isn't that nice you can pull the carpet and just cut a hole in the floor to access it then cut a patch slightly larger and screw it down to cover the hole. Makes the checkout time a LOT less. Good luck

The other thing that happens on those and if your fuel press is that high then the pump is probably good-- is the injectors stick shut from cruddy fuel. There is a GM cleaning for this, the dealer can do it. You can try that and see what happens. Especially if it happens on cold starts. Or try adding GM techron to the fuel tank after it runs to lube the poppets. Good luck. DB
